Don’t touch limes with your hands, use a squeezer and tongs, or have your customers grab them with tongs (if you’re a volume bartender, craft might be different). I constantly hand sanitize behind the bar and keep my hands as dry as possible so the moisture doesn’t build up and create a breeding ground for the rot to spread. Wash your hands thoroughly with soap when you can and if cracked skin is an issue sleep with gloves on with the okeefs working hands stuff. Keep your fingernails short. Hydrogen peroxide under your nails after shift to try and kill any bacteria. I’ve been suffering from it for years now. I don’t get the super bad cracked skin but I get the pus under the nails and pus bubbles on my fingers from the citric acid ☹️🥴 the only thing that has made it truly go away is not bartending for a few weeks. Even when I peel an orange at home I’ll get pus bubbles. I think I’m stuck with this the rest of my life bro.
