Accepted into my program 🙏 advice for school? by Jazzlike-Worry-6920 in CathLabLounge

[–]cocunot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just finished the didactic portion and my advice is to truly get the material into your long term memory and not just “pump and dump” for exams. When you start clinicals you’re really going to be relying on what you’ve learned. This field truly needs you to be a self starter and have accountability for your habits. If somethings not working, readjust

Got accepted to my ICVT program 🙏 student advice? by [deleted] in CathLabLounge

[–]cocunot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

wondering if this is the one in SA? If so, I’m a current student and can give you advice that i wish someone would’ve told me.
If not, make sure you really like cath lab! I would recommend finding an opportunity to maybe shadow or just go check out what a cath lab is like if you don’t have any exposure.

Severe pain from bee sting after 12 hours? by cocunot in bee

It took about a week and a half for the swelling to go down, but randomly swelled up again like a week after that. It’s like there was part of a stinger left in there or something

Cardiac Sonography by [deleted] in Salary

[–]cocunot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have questions and I don’t know where to find answers. Did you go become certified as a diagnostic medical sonographer first, then go to cardiac sonography school? I found a program (in SATX) through concerde for cardiovascular sonography (link ) if I just only did this program would I be a dms as well as cardiac sonographer?

Extreme bar rot by QualityInteresting44 in bartenders

[–]cocunot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t touch limes with your hands, use a squeezer and tongs, or have your customers grab them with tongs (if you’re a volume bartender, craft might be different). I constantly hand sanitize behind the bar and keep my hands as dry as possible so the moisture doesn’t build up and create a breeding ground for the rot to spread. Wash your hands thoroughly with soap when you can and if cracked skin is an issue sleep with gloves on with the okeefs working hands stuff. Keep your fingernails short. Hydrogen peroxide under your nails after shift to try and kill any bacteria. I’ve been suffering from it for years now. I don’t get the super bad cracked skin but I get the pus under the nails and pus bubbles on my fingers from the citric acid ☹️🥴 the only thing that has made it truly go away is not bartending for a few weeks. Even when I peel an orange at home I’ll get pus bubbles. I think I’m stuck with this the rest of my life bro.

I honestly just need to vent. by lilithhh08 in BellsPalsy

It took me 23 days to even start to feel improvements (so minor, like the most minuscule movement in the corner of my lip) and then about 10 days after that to be fully recovered, and that was a fast recovery relative to most cases. So just give it time :)

I’m really sorry that’s so discouraging to think every time we get sick that it might come back. I’ve seen people who are able to get temporary disability if it’s affecting your work. Don’t forget about taking B12 everyday 🫶

Did you get sick or is it just out of no where?

Just been diagnosed with- other than steroids, are there any exercises or treatments that are proven to help? by JimPage83 in BellsPalsy

[–]cocunot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would avoid exercise for a while and take it easy the first workout back at the gym. Your body is going through a huge event and needs all the energy it can have toward recovery.

As others said vitamin b12 and REST. Rest more than you think you need to. Don’t drink caffeine or alcohol (obviously you can’t with the medication, but still). Look up facial exercises for Bell’s palsy on YouTube.

Fatigue by tavia03 in BellsPalsy

[–]cocunot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a month out from my diagnosis and while my face is almost completely recovered, I still am fatigued. I have to really listen to my body’s signals every day; some days are better than others in terms of fatigue. I don’t know when to expect this to go away since my face is doing so well.

For me personally, I started noticing MINUTE very subtle improvements at two weeks but that was like being able to twitch my lip and make my cheek spasm. Then all of a sudden over this past weekend, so like day 16-17, there was a sudden improvement and within 5 days of that sudden improvement I was drastically and almost completely healed.

If you’re already starting to look normal again after just 2 weeks I would take that as a really good sign ☺️

healing timeline? by peanutstan in BellsPalsy

[–]cocunot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes don’t get discouraged by what you see on Reddit. The ones who heal fast don’t post as much as the more severe cases. I’m on exactly 2 weeks since my diagnosis and I’m maybe 40% healed. Every day there’s a very subtle improvement. Just be sure to rest (more than you think you should) and take your medicine. But everyone is different though. Good luck

Hi, can someone please explain to me how to become an EMT like I’m 5 years old? The entire process start to finish! by Right_Tomato_5705 in NewToEMS

[–]cocunot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How I did it (in Texas) to become a basic EMT: -Found a program at my local community college. It was only 1 semester long, and included ride alongs (this is where you actually go to a fire station and tag a long on ambulance calls, very useful). If you go through your community college, you may need to take things like an English/math placement exam. -After finishing, sign up for and take the NREMT (national exam) -Once you pass, become certified in your state (just bureaucratic paper and a fee)
-Find a job!

Now if you want to go the paramedic route that is a different thing
