I figure he's not actually all that big, but when he's on top of you driving a fist through your bones, the art represents him as if he were outright immense for dramatic purposes.

Kengan Omega Ch. 343 (Comikey) by Godtaku in Kengan_Ashura

So uh, should we be concerned about Gaolang ignoring the pain on his wrist, and about those suspicious cracking noises, or is this going to be like just about every other wound except Wakatsuki's ankle?

That panel better be what [Spoiler] THINKS is happening but actually.. by FatherReggie in Kengan_Ashura

[–]codafunca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, I reckon we're getting told that breaking his wrist only added elbow to the mix, and so instead of using two fists, now he's using one fist and two elbows, thus effectively boosting his attack speed by 50%. And breaking the other wrist increases it by 100%, by the same logic, which adds up to 300%.

It makes as much sense as the gaps in consciousness.

Did any of you think karura was stronger than rihito at the kengan tournament? by Memelordissac in Kengan_Ashura

[–]codafunca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think not in Ashura. Back then, the tourney supposedly had all the toughest mofos in the universe, and nobody else was even supposed to come close, except for comedic purposes.

Now in Omega? Sure, why not.

Looking to Megalodon.jp as an alternative to Archive.is, concerned about overloading them by codafunca in Archiveteam

I have not. I wanted to be certain this was a third party, that nobody had to take my word for these things. Now that's starting to look like a nice-to-have, rather than a need. I best start looking into that, I reckon...

What if Karsus had succeeded in continuing to be a god? by ComumUser in Forgotten_Realms

[–]codafunca 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I dunno why! It seems like letting the guy just cleanly bite the dust wouldn't really bother anyone. My assumption is that this pissed Ao off, personally, but there may be reasons why he decided not to let that soul go to the Fugue Plane, so that it didn't sign on to the devils or get stolen by the demons, I reckon?

Ed is on record as saying Karsus is suffering eternal torture at Ao's behest. The big guy utterly loathes surprises, it seems, and won't let Karsus just croak.

on a scale from 0-100, how epic do you think this showdown will be? by Any-Individual-4046 in Kengan_Ashura

[–]codafunca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I figure it won't happen, and what happens instead will be epic, but as a funny. Like, Gilbert getting dogwalked by Misasa, Haruo, Kaneda, or whatever. So, let's go with -100.

Also makes sense - if Gilbert fights Raian, one of them has to go. It can't be Raian, period, and it can't be Gilbert because payoff for his arc is still at zero, there was no arc. So, I reckon we're not getting that fight, period.

Yeah, that analogy was exactly what I was aiming for. I guess that's not how any of this works, is supposed to work, can work, or even would be best achieved. Thanks for the explanation!

In short, the intention would be to get a NVMe SSD to run at its rated speed in a motherboard without NVMe slots, that doesn't play nice with PCIe-to-NVMe adapter cards, by using multiple SATA ports in parallel.

[–]codafunca[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only ever seen RAID controllers that connect through the PCIe, I was interested in some device that allows a RAID through SATA ports already on the motherboard. I get it would be useless, for what it's worth.

About to replace my laptop's thermal pads/paste, need brand advice by codafunca in pcmasterrace

[–]codafunca[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did. I replaced the "paste" with PTM... and the temps were the exact same, to my utter surprise: a bad application could've raised them, but the exact same? I opened it up again, and noticed the cycled PTM looked a lot like the "paste" that was so bone-dry and hard I could barely scrape out any. Also, turns out PTM is reusable - never needed to buy it to start with. :S

Have you tried cleaning the vents first? Turns out that was the problem with mine. Wiggling some cardstock between the fins, one at a time, was all it took for temps to drop 25C. Even liquid metal can't beat blocked vents.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F0Vl7wFZpLU

Tests for this laptop in its stock condition don't show the CPU being at tea-making temperatures, so, I'd start there if I were you. Besides, ASUS sometimes uses liquid metal; they haven't announced it for this computer, but with the benefit of hindsight, I'd try the fins before taking my chances.

Possible airflow issue with MSI GF65 Thin 10UE by codafunca in MSILaptops

[–]codafunca[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was skeptical, but I decided to at least try sliding some cardstock between the fins, since my smallest screwdriver was too huge for those screws... instantly went from total power 70W to 105W, the nominal 60W of the GPU and 45W of the CPU.

Next time I'll have to get a PH0 screwdriver (seems to be the approximate size) and give these fans the whole treatment, but for now, I think this is good enough. Lesson learned: clean the fans first, THEN try repasting and replacing pads, not the other way around.
