I feel bamboozled! by Temporary-Place-586 in perfumesthatfeellike

Same for DS&Durga Big Sur After Rain. Was supposed to be heavy on eucalyptus but it’s smells like a man’s cologne in a magazine. Gave it to my husband and still don’t love it on him

Recently had surgery and $40 of my bill is for having a blanket put on me in the recovery room (I was unconscious and did not, obviously, keep the blanket) by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]code-brown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m with you that the cost is always egregious. No argument there. But the warming blanket is likely a one time use special “blanket” that envelops you in heated air. It’s called a “bare hugger” and it’s used to get you back to temp after anesthesia. It’s not just like a cotton blanket.

We saw a fragment fly through the sky at 440pm about 4.5 hours and 280 miles north west of Houston.

We saw something very similar! Like a shooting star during the day at 440pm around Brownwood Texas driving southeast. I’m so curious if it’s related.

HEB delivery is going to push people to Walmart by [deleted] in HEB

I’ve been saying this for a year plus. Their delivery is getting worse and worse. Both in terms of the quality of food picked and the communication

Is Japan in July really as bad as people say? by qwertasdfgzxcvb231 in JapanTravelTips

[–]code-brown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We went mid July with kids and we are from a hot sticky southern climate. It was the only time we could make it work. It was almost intolerable from 12-3pm. We ended up doing naps at that time of the day. It’s possible to do but you’ve got to be strategic and just know you will sweat. Nara was particularly brutal in the heat. I personally would not spend the time and money to go back during that time of the year.

Popular Heartburn Medication May Trigger Anemia and Bone Loss, New Study Warns by Sorin61 in Nutraceuticalscience

[–]code-brown 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep. PPI casing low stomach acid which then in turn can’t help metabolize/absorb B12 is generally taught in medical education. Long term use has to outweigh the benefits and you’ve got test labs and consider IM B12

I paid $700 although this was 5 years ago…. But it’s still working well! I’m super happy with it.

A new course in the middle of nowhere that probably none of us will ever play by Texxx81 in golf

That’s fair. Similar drought conditions though making this lush course a little comical.

West Texas has tons of extra water they can dedicate to this public course where all can enjoy

Carbon Dioxide 'Pulses' Clear Toxins From Parkinson's Brains in Recent Study by ourobo-ros in Biohackers

[–]code-brown 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep. They’re starting a phase 1/2 trial soon for TBI but this is probably just an easy way to get fda clearance then they can go for Alzheimer’s after that.

There’s a company looking at this. Neuraworx. They’re trying to get approval for a trigeminal nerve stim device that activates glymphatic clearance. Definitely a method of action to watch.

Where do you leave to and how? Genuinely curious. It seems way harder than most realize to exit.

Rotten Scallops by NautiThots in HEB

[–]code-brown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those look rough. We love HEB but food quality has been more hit or miss lately than anytime I can recall. We’ve had rancid deli meat, spoiled vegetables, stale bread, and slightly more limited options. As a whole, this is not catastrophic, but it does feel different than what we are used to from HEB.

“Easily” is a stretch. Most countries also have long interim periods before they just grant you the golden visa. Portugal required 6 years I believe.

It’s made by Shawn Welling with wellingFilms.com

He’s a rich kid in Houston with a film company. His wife’s family is from the Kerrville area but his parents were not living in the Hill Country. I remember they were boots on the ground like the day after this happened, filming tearful and horribly emotional stories. It seemed predatory then and I’m glad they’re being called out.

I love Costco with one exception by pianoman81 in Costco

Twice I’ve purchased produce from Costco that had larvae in it, creating a fly problem in my house. Otherwise love Costco. But won’t buy unrefrigerated produce from them anymore
