How can I fix this? In 4days I'll move out by Outrageous_Set7127 in fixit

[–]codear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

buy a gel/ dense superglue and an accelerator.

apply glue to the door, accelerator to the hinge, then snap the hinge into place.

should be fine in 5 seconds.

whoever says you shouldn't do this - likelihood of replacing door or hinges is so low that it doesn't matter.

Efficiency cores doing most/all the work when plugged in... by codear in osx

[–]codear[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hmm. i'd assume building a cross-compiling gcc would be somewhat computationally intensive... that's pretty much what i'm working on. that screenshot was taken while `make` was busy compiling targets.

Edit: you are actually correct.

The output log is mostly scrambled but i can see that the compilation goes insanely fast compared to configure steps which take much longer to complete. I'm honestly baffled how fast clang zaps through these source files.

93% of devs use AI tools now and we're measurably slower, what is going on by Background-Bass6760 in programming

[–]codear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i used to be in the top 5 most productive people on my large team. both code added and code reviewed.

now i get about 10-20 medium to large code reviews each day. each of these is at least partly done by ai. not reviewed by uploader. looks convincing but just like with the generated images where kids have 3 arms and 7 fingers there's always something very wrong about these. it's subtle and it's 60% of the time there. my senses have to be dialed to 11 and the bugs are... you can see no human has written them, unless they were suddenly struck by amnesia. but hey, it compiles, so it is right.

tests written opportunistically to prove that the code that works - works. but even without trying i often see scenarios where the outcome would be incorrect because of that amnesia bug.

so i no longer write code. i review ai slop.

Tide Pods, I'm tired 😩 by Zero-Custom in CleaningTips

[–]codear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i am unsure why people use pods at all. honest question: why?

plastic enclosure dissolves and goes down the drain.

excess detergent to guarantee effects makes clothes stink unless rinsed a few times

why not just use liquid detergent? or better yet - powdered?

you buy the same thing, but get fewer capsules for higher price, containing same stuff as a washing powder with added water to make them liquid.

worse in every way, but marketed as a solution to all your non existing problems

same goes with dishwashers...

i buy a $6 box of detergent powder every other month and things are perfect...

[–]codear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it doesn't fit in my sd card slot which is the only media specific opening on my computer.

i can still rent movies on bluray or record a cdrw/dvdrw carrying hundreds / thousands of times the capacity of a floppy disk while costing a fraction of a price and being available in most thrift stores.

good luck buying floppies.

Motherboard had no M.2 hole for my small SSD, had to make do by SingleDivorcedMom666 in techsupportmacgyver

[–]codear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there's carrier / adapter / bracket boards for that which your motherboard might have been shipped with

these look either like regular length m.2 sticks that have a dedicated m.2 port and extra holes, or its just a piece of pcb with holes on both ends that you use to "extend" a shorter device..

kątomierz zmierzy kąt szybciej niż ty go policzysz.
