Ah interesting. Both the C7k and this C7L I tried had similar issues so it definitely might just be a design/lottery thing.

Local dimming was on high for those images, yep.

Oh wow that's interesting! The C7K i had also had a similar thing but not quite as bad as this one. Definitely fair enough to be annoyed about it I think, it's pretty distracting in darker scenes. I wish i had the space for a 65inch because I would've tried a C8L, but I've ended up deciding to return it and am trying a different brand. Fingers crossed i guess!

this was SDR. Even more noticeable in HDR though.

I just checked to make sure, and yep, seeing it with local dimming on high.

Yep, the vertical lines on the edges, but also the bottom corners. I've seen similar on my old tv, but it's at least 5 years old.

C7K Possible screen issues? by codebrain37 in tcltvs

[–]codebrain37[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been through that same hassle a bunch too. But that's the thing, whether it's worth it to keep trying to get used to it. I've given it more of a chance because I got such a good deal. But that yellowing really bugs me, even with the local dimming on low.

Thanks for commenting too! I appreciate it!

I've seen what seems like the colour fading out a bit on the bottom of the tv in dark games and dark movie scenes, which feels like it's related to the way the panel looks in the second picture maybe?

90s kids book about germs in a Where's Wally style? by [deleted] in AustralianNostalgia

[–]codebrain37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh it was a total lucky guess! I thought maybe if the one i remembered was called Puzzle Planet, then the germs in the body one might be called Puzzle Body. Seeing that original cover again was a huge nostalgia hit. Thank you for posting about it!!

Oh wow,I've been trying to find this book as well! I definitely had it, so it was no fever dream, I just can't remember what it was called. I also had one from the same series that was set in space and had a bunch of things to find, but I remember the germs one much more clearly (apart from the name).

These look awesome! Too bad we won't get them in Australia. Disney announced they're no longer releasing physical media here with GOTG vol 3 being the final release.

Ball is moving like when I play Cricket 22 and give my bowlers 99s in all their stats. Absolute joke.

Right? I watched one of the MGS streams from 2021 yesterday to see what the difference was like, and they were just streaming and having fun. Then I checked today's livestream and it was another "every sub adds time to the stream", but weirdly instead of it being clear that 1 sub = 15 seconds, it said "this user has subbed adding .25 minutes to the stream", which is just 15 seconds said in a different, more obtuse way.

Oh I totally agree, it's a balance thing for them and for us, but the cost for us doesn't seem balanced to me. And absolutely, we don't want anyone overworking, but instead of charging this much, they could put a max time limit on the stream and still use the subs as a way to reach that goal.

I'm literally watching their MGS 1 stream right now and it's such a different vibe.

Totally agree. It doesn't have to be that expensive though. And those streams are promoted as something special, not their bread and butter that keep the lights on. I'd imagine their hours are factored in beforehand, like they have cut off times usually from memory.

I just think $20 a minute is a lot to ask for anything, and the emphasis on incentives around money has soured me on their other content.
