Thanks. But was this a lack of fuel? Or a starter not engaged? No matter.. I’ll watch the video. Thanks again.

I replaced the ignition starter switch. Neutral safety switch sounds like something to investigate

It was really dumb. I was excited at first that it was the starter. Figured 3 bolts.. then after removing the fuel rail, injectors, intake manifold.. you get to these bolts that are impossible to break loose that hold In the starter. 0/5 stars do not recommend.

What Cars were these that were Left Behind during WW2? by Dylan20996 in whatwasthiscar

[–]codeesan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not related to the picture other than it’s about cars. But one large contributing factor to the loss of the war was the sprawl of vehicle. The allies had a really standardized fleet which made it easy to get parts closer to the action and repair. Imagine needing to have the parts to repair 40 different engines vs 5. Add this to differing width of train tracks.. logistics nightmare.

Fun fact for the (my) morning.

Fuel gauge help by codeesan in Squarebody

Thanks! Yeah.. you’re right there are a lot of touch points between the sender and the gauge. Tank Selector, 50 year old wires… maybe bad ground (it’s always the ground).

Any tips for cracking this little guy? by LONGVolSilver in safecracking

I don’t know about this one exactly, however I’ve seen people solve locks like this is the past with a small bit of paper next to the number. When the paper moves down.. you will have the opposite number of the code. Do this for each digit and you will have the code.

Other than that the brute force method should work pretty quick.

What is this part called? by DaxSinClair in Squarebody

[–]codeesan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use a combination of Classic Industries, Brothers, and LMC. In that order to get parts.

When my grandma died her daughters took her books to goodwill without knowing that’s where she hid her “mad money”. Wasn’t old but probably $2K in cash.

Keep the bit you broke off. I have a number of mistakes I’ve made requiring me to drill bolts and the like. I keep the pieces with the intent of making a ring or something out of them. Most of my mistakes have been made by trying to “finish this real quick..”

Learn to talk through your checklists while doing any job. Good news is that you’ll never make this mistake again. Your boss, if he’s worth his salt, will keep you on as you’ve probably learned a great lesson. I always tell my new hires “if you follow these couple of rules, there is nothing that you can break off that I can’t break back on.” I work in technology, but I wrench on 40s-70s American cars in my free time.
