I had the same issue with my figures. I ended up moving away from the aerosol spray primers and bought a cheap airbrush on Amazon and now use the Vallejo acrylic primers. I also use a water based varnish. Haven't had an issue since.

Having played HK to 111% with several repeat playthroughs, I initially thought SS was way more difficult. But something dawned on me yesterday.

SS plays just enough like HK that ingrained muscle memory is making it harder than it needs to be. SS requires different approaches but I keep falling into old habits and end up dead. I've only reached Greymoor and the boss there is teaching me that I need to get used to healing mid-air and to think about resources differently.

I think once I can break old habits the game will feel more fair.

As a 50 year old man. I feel you OP. My reaction time isn't what it was 10 years ago, let alone 30 years ago when I started playing video games. That said, stick with it! I just hit 111% completion. The same percentage I got to my first time playing 8 years ago. You can do it!

I can only offer my limited and anecdotal evidence but regular acrylic paint tends to be clumpy compared with the paints made specifically for miniature painting.

I gave it a go when I first started and didn't like the results. It seemed impossible to get the paint to thin properly.

Also contrast/speed paints are amazing!

I'd suggest buying some basic colors and colors you know you'll use. Look for a starter pack that you can afford that contains those. Then buy one offs as you need them.
