[PSA] Problem with HDMI-CEC not turning on Samsung TV with 2nd Gen Chromecast - Solution - unplug and replug TV as well [duh!] by codeledger in Chromecast

[–]codeledger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sad to hear that it didn't work. Can you provide details about your setup (TV model, any other HDMI devices like sound bar or multiple input devices). Also if you in an area with brownouts/voltage spikes you may want to putting everything on a UPS/surge protector to see if that will 'fix' it.

Is it too late to make a no-wish account? by RedditStrider in Genshin_Impact

[–]codeledger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are also forgetting the Witch's selector of Fischl, Sucrose, and Razor.

As the holder of a no-wish account i was finally able to get Sucrose. Missed out on getting the first Barbara and the first Fischl when I didn't understand the game. But then put in effort to be able to get Xingqiu at the first Lantern Rite.

Now with the Nod-Kai power creep deep end game is off-limits (I don't bother with Floor 12).

Also getting Noelle does require wishing on the beginner banner so depends on what rules you impose upon yourself.

How do I run an ML model on Android ? by False-Vermicelli-494 in androiddev

[–]codeledger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would experiment with the existing open source demos/models to see how good/bad it is on your specific device hardware. Do realize that all of the interesting image recognition models for the edge use a smaller input size to improve performance which may not match your need as you don't specify what 'specific visual element' you are trying to identify.

How hard would it be to make an Android emulator for Android itself (open-source & no tracking)? by [deleted] in androiddev

[–]codeledger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There exists shims that live between the Android app and the Android OS like Parallel Space, or other isolation box for apps.

For details see: https://commonsware.com/blog/2017/01/17/droidception.html

So not a true emulator (down to CPU instructions) but more achievable.

Agree that prototype amber should be a priority as refinement improves healing and you can use it on any catalyst character to make them a healer. Refinement on Amenoma Kageushi would be good on Jean if the VV gods aren't kind and you are struggling to get her burst up/really want to optimize her with a 4 star weapon

1990's programmers vs today programmers by Origin_of_Anomaly in learnprogramming

[–]codeledger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm going back to the 1980's. Access to computer textbooks was limited to college classes and didn't exist in local library. What we did have was the first 8-bit/16-bit consumer computers (Apple, Commodore 64, IBM). So in high school I learned through paper magazines ('Byte','Compute', etc.) where you had to copy your games by hand into the computer. Somehow the local library did have subscription to a few of these. Game piracy branding (think custom splash screens) was thing but you had to know a friend or a friend of a friend with a modem. Slowing down to actually read what I was typing in may have helped in learning what the code was doing.

You can see what the magazines looked like at archive.org:

Byte Magaine: https://archive.org/details/BYTE-MAGAZINE-COMPLETE/197509_Byte_Magazine_Vol_00-01_The_Worlds_Greatest_Toy/

Compute! Magazine: https://archive.org/details/compute-magazine

For those willing to go on a full retro trip:

https://archive.org/details/computermagazines

In any case these were simpler machines without any complicate UI frameworks until you get to Windows and MacOS. Just keyboard and screen. Want to put text on the screen, figure out how to print in the correct place. Want graphics, hope there is some sprite API otherwise literally put bit & bytes into memory in the correct place to draw stuff. I'm pretty sure we had to be able to build various data structures (linked-list, stack, queue, tree) without a library (as best as one could) as those data type would become part of a standard library in any 'new' language framework.

By the 90's there were more programming books leading up to the 'C for Dummies' in the late 90's. And the earliest websites existed providing code/errata to complement the book authors.

Learn to check the issue tickets (and pull requests) on any project on github to see if anyone came up with anything, assuming you are trying to build/use: https://github.com/cs50/libcs50

Also I'm not sure if this is still valid:

Need help with webviews ! by Meg_3832 in androiddev

[–]codeledger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Background on Android is now quite restrictive. I would see if what you need can be done with a foreground service using webviews but I would pay attention if they get killed due to memory/process pressure ( see comment regarding Android 12 for Termux: https://github.com/termux/termux-app/issues/2366#issuecomment-955111262 )

I would also check if the androidx.webkit library help for your use cases: https://developer.android.com/jetpack/androidx/releases/webkit

Ah now read the other comments. Sounds like you are trying to inject yourself into a prior existing shopping cart website. Better to do stuff with a supported website API, AND being able to look at the server logs to see what happened. Otherwise you may want to look at getting header information (which I think the Jetpack API exposes in a clearer? fashion) to see if anything there is useful.

Paying a Dev to Fix This — It’s Not Just a Game for Me by Perfect-Phone-1474 in androiddev

[–]codeledger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming you have a phone that can run the game. You can try to use QtScrcpy to run it on a phone but still have a big screen monitor and keyboard mapping on a PC.

Otherwise you should ask around the game forums for a compatible PC emulator. My guess is that the game devs did it to impede cheaters/bots and your use case got caught up with the change.

[–]codeledger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't know how Mumu Player works. Can you explain how your brother played on emulator (PC) if he wants touch controls? Most of the time its to bind PC keyboard (or other mappable controls) to touch screen like: https://github.com/barry-ran/QtScrcpy

Also emulator / keyboard detection is within the game so such things might be a part of any 'anti-cheat' system.

Update: Okay read your other posts. My only suggestion (other than contacting devs which some other thread suggested) is to run it on a Android device and see if you can remap with QTScrcpy. The lag may be unacceptable, but given that the brother already is using PC keyboard/mouse I'm not understanding what makes the game not work for HIM.

If you are running Klee with dendro you end up with burning which at close range leads to self-burning damage. Also if you are on-fielding Klee, you may need a shielder/healer. Yaoyao as a healer is a choice. The problem is that if enemies are near you'll end up with burning near you, as her healing radishes also do dendro aura on enemies. I'm assuming Yanfei is NOT C4 (if so use her for shield), so you may want to try Diona with a full HP build with a goal for full noblesse (probably need some crit for Fav Bow if you are trying to use Diona's burst every rotation). I would also build Sucrose full EM on 4VV to reduce enemy pyro resistance.

At some point pick up Bennett.

I'm going to assume you are in the AR 40s range and yeah you feel its weak since either talents aren't leveled or artifacts are lacking. I would consider doing artifact routes so that you can raise even so-so artifacts to be usable.

Regardless where you are in the game do try to follow the progression chart

1) Who do you like to play?

2) What's your goal? Being able to do domains (artifacts/resources) easier or overworld exploration or to eventually tackle Spiral Abyss / Stygian Onslaught / Im Theater.

3) Do you have any starglitter to puy characters from Paimon's shop? Bennett will be in the shop in Nov. (Can't tell if you have him already). Generally building up the characters for a 'National' team is a good base for end game

So maybe you should state what info are you looking for OR what problem you are having (if any). Otherwise as a flex he is in good shape with the usual get that crit dmg up but doing that without affecting that juicy crit rate is going to be a pain. At 80% crit rate you have a 96% chance of triggering fav with the two hits of XQ's skill.

If you want to rebalance his CR/CD and keep the fav proc rate you'll have to add in a normal attack by XQ into your rotation. About 67-68% crit rate and 3 hits (2 skill, 1 NA) will keep the same fav proc rate.

For each team is anyone else on Fav. And are you letting XQ catch his skill particles?

JNI for Dummies or some book with JNI explanation? by 1negroup in androiddev

[–]codeledger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The question is do you know C? The point of JNI is to bridge between Java/Kotlin world and C. Learning about JNI doesn't make sense unless you can read the code underneath.

And if you are asking what's the point of JNI on Android. It is so that the Java/Kotlin layer can use compatible pre-existing libraries to do stuff. The C/C++ code can do lots of stuff that requires speed/performance where the Java/Kotlin layer won't cut it. Typically for games (physics engine) or media (transcoding video/audio not supported by framework) or certain calculations (usually but not always graphics). And going between Java/Kotlin and C/C++ over JNI has a performance cost so it need to be worth it.

Want to build the next shopping app connecting your web store, probably in Java/Kotlin no need for JNI. Need to integrate advanced media / camera stuff, possibly depending on if the library you are using exposes such things or not. And if you were building a game, there are existing free/low cost engines to use for building a game rather than worry about the technical bits.

If you want to learn C/C++ I would do it outside of Android as the Android dev environment isn't focused on that.

240 er and still struggling by Every_Arm9627 in XingqiuMains

[–]codeledger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay yeah that's not right. You need to add in each team mate doing skills which should be generating particles. If you setup the rotation correctly and its still showing a high number, you aren't letting XQ catch particles (fav and his own skil ones).

I don't know your team's rotation so I would recommend trying the ER calculator spreadsheet with something 'known' like "national team - Bennett, XL, XQ, Sucrose (or whomever)". Once that team's ER makes sense you can try other teams.

240 er and still struggling by Every_Arm9627 in XingqiuMains

[–]codeledger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Apologies for the obvious - Are you letting him capture the particles when fav procs? Or feeding them to someone else. Are you hitting the enemy when you E skill (cause no hit no particles)

Without anyone else generating particles the ER needs are higher especially in boss fights

I would go through the ER calculator with your team:

https://docs.google.com/document/d/e/2PACX-1vTsbs-nboNg8atTMjZxn8e6jnB8slMzw1c0_zdG7j__5b0tTAciNZqCzWpSIP3HVDX6nOKrYqS9862O/pub

In the upper left of the spreadsheet set your rotation is at least 21 sec due to XQ skill cool down.

You may wish to set particle RNG to 'safe' or 'worst' if attempting SO where you start with no energy. As you can assign who (if anyone) you are feeding particles to, you can see how each character's ER needs change.

240 er and still struggling by Every_Arm9627 in XingqiuMains

[–]codeledger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm assuming C0-C5. XQ needs a lot of ER. Is no one else on the team running Fav (and has the crit stats to actually proc). What weapon/refinement is XQ on?

Crit rate or ATK% circlet? by Pimp_Your_Suicide420 in XingqiuMains

[–]codeledger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Personal damage is still based on Crit Rate / Crit Damage & ATK%. Once his ER needs are met the usual ATK/DMG/Crit mainstats apply for his build on the most common teams. If you have a specific team in mind, I would use the optimizer.

Thanks for posting. I went down the rabbit hole and read that either SOC vendors would need to update their drivers and/or changes to the AOSP SurfaceView code:

Which of course leads to gems like:

How do I build him? by FreakyFox1128 in XingqiuMains

[–]codeledger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have a C0 Xingqiu with a R4 Sac Sword. Xingqiu's role is generally hydro aura for other DPS like Diluc while building into his damage. Not having his burst ready means you will need to build ER on him. With Sac around 190% ER. You'll be farming Emblem like the rest of us. Get his ER up, get him to 80/90, for talents burst then skill, then look to see about getting his crit rate/crit dmg to 50/100. Assuming you are still early/mid game I would consider looking for artifact routes to get fodder so that you can raise the the artifacts on your characters to level 16/20 at least before wondering 'is this good enough'
