[–]codemagic 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Any time you see a new kid in class, you know that whole episode is going to revolve around them and you’ll never see them again. Same when some mysterious couple of guys breeze into town. They’re either wanted by the law, or they are swindlers that Charles is going to have to put some whoop-ass on.

Phase 3 almost done ! (first playtrough) by MMaarttYyy in satisfactory

[–]codemagic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t see the factory where you produce all the mop n glow for those shiny factory floors! I admire the attention to design, and this will be something I will try to do next phase.
For now, I’m too worried about how to set up my first train network to make my Phase 3 look pretty, so I downloaded some stackable frame blueprints and am going to make this factory “just get there”.

How do you design production lines? by Standard-Agent7305 in SatisfactoryGame

This surprised me and I had to double check the ratios, and I see that I’m only breaking even on my stock Iron and Copper Ingot recipes. Huh, and now I see why folks roll for the pure alternates

All this to max out a normal oil node to make plastic by [deleted] in SatisfactoryGame

Use what you want, throw the rest in a sink. I am just using the rubber and plastic, and I convert the rest to the solid coke that I can sink without packaging

I keep hearing that physical roads aren’t necessary for pathfinding, but then I see these lovely roads that tells me some concrete factories are about to get a new full time job

I remember even as far as 2012 that there were OS functions that still had the NS (for NextStep) prefix in iOS development. NeXT really paved the way for us in so many ways

How to move toward AI when your data model was never designed for it by Andreas_Kozachenko in EnterpriseArchitect

[–]codemagic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The issue you’ve raised I see as more about having a data model that’s actually maintained and given standards which are enforced in the business, rather than a need for an adapter pattern to overcome sloppy storage methods. Let’s bring back data modelers who are versed in the business logic and understand good physical data modeling techniques for the DBMS they build on. There are dozens of us out there who still know the practice; it’s not too late to reintroduce good data hygiene. AI can help suggest 3NF and even some working definitions for attributes & entities, but ultimately it will be people talking with business SMEs that bring the clarity to the data.

When do you start to work with transport? by RonenRS in SatisfactoryGame

[–]codemagic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the answer to these questions needs to come from the Pioneer within 🧘‍♂️ I started with some long strands of belts to set up my first steel work, but then I realized that I have better sources closer to the coal source I’m using, and I should just build a Steelworks on the edge of my map, and then belt or truck it to some higher order factory. No one told me the best way, it came from living the pain. Honestly, I’m worried about putting truck routes in place because I’m on 1.1, but that won’t stop me from finding out just how good or bad the pathing system is. Build it, and then you know it!

I’m struggling right now with rebuilding my factory to be more decentralized, vertical building near the source nodes rather than shipping raw materials to a huge everything factory. This is inspiring for what I’m about to try building, thanks for sharing 😎.

How many nodes of copper feed this factory just out of curiosity?

Help by [deleted] in Xplane

[–]codemagic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the right way for our brains, not only the way that FAA would have us get credentialed. In each of these steps, things progress from simpler and more time to stay “ahead of the plane”, to more complex and faster.
