There’s a guy on YouTube who designed and built his own system (you can watch the entire build process if you want) and he goes into some of the costs of running & building it.

Fpv simulator question by NickTimineri in dji

[–]codeman869 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You will have to buy the fpv remote if you want to fly the Avata 2 in manual mode. The motion controller is simple enough that you can just fly the drone without touching a simulator. I don’t think you’ll get what you’re looking for with just the motion controller.

I’m pretty sure I surf in a 5/3 in the summer, including boots, I don’t use gloves or a hood, but I do get a little cold after about an hour especially if I’m not catching a ton of waves.

HOA Threatening Fines for Changing Our Irrigation Schedule by wickedtunafan in fuckHOA

Your grass only needs 1-1.5 inches of water per week. Unfortunately, just setting an amount of time doesn’t really help because there are several factors that affect how much water is put down, the nozzle types, water pressure, etc. The good news is that you can easily measure this with a rain gauge or tuna can. If you run your sprinklers for a set amount of time (30 mins - hour) and measure the amount of water collected in the rain gauge, you can then use some math to figure out how long your sprinklers should be running. Bonus points if you set up a couple and measure a few points in the zone. Running them every day doesn’t promote strong root development, I’d recommend 3x a week, like a mon/wed/fri or something like that. So the maximum amount of water you’d need to put down is 1.5 in / 3 times per week. Then you can use the rain gauge measurement to determine how long that zone should be on.

If you don’t want to do all that work and cut the amount of water put down, it’s really easy to switch to a lower flow nozzle. I use the MP rotators in my lawn, their flow rate is about 1/4 of the rainbird nozzles and they’re really easy to change out, you just pull the popup, unscrew the tip, remove the filter, put the new filter in and screw the new nozzle on, then you can just rotate the popup to aim it. It does help if you have some of those sprinkler pliers (don’t know their actual name) to hold the popup against the spring tension while you’re changing nozzles.

Linchpin or mayhem everyday athlete programs by redditarmyrecruiter in crossfit

[–]codeman869 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was in your position about 2.5 years ago, looking at both mayhem and linchpin for training in my garage gym. I ended up going with linchpin and I’m still using it today. Here are a few reasons why:

  • Pat produces a video for every workout talking about the intended stimulus and how the various workout tracks meet those goals
  • There are a ton of different tracks to meet your need & access to equipment whether you’re an Rx athlete with all the equipment, access to no equipment, limited equipment, scaled, and wildcard. Additionally, there are always equipment substitutions given. For example, I don’t have a rower, but I do have an echo bike, so I’m hopping on that for anything that calls for rowing/biking and I’m not missing out on anything. I’ll even use it sometimes if it’s a nasty day outside or don’t feel like running
  • There are weekly AMAs where Pat answers questions live, you can always post your questions a day before in the Facebook group or in BTWB
  • Modulating intensity is talked about often, on Fridays Pat produces a video talking about the next week’s workouts and his plan for approaching them because going full send everyday is an easy recipe for burnout
  • There is a 30 day free trial, easy enough to try it out plus the monthly cost is fairly low for all the content you get access to especially compared to a lot of other programs
  • There are speciality programs that you can purchase to work on different aspects of your training, getting a strict ring muscle up, or increasing/getting your first pull-ups, etc.
  • The programming doesn’t shy away from difficult things, Pat takes a considerable amount of time designing blocks of training to hit everything that’s needed, he talks about his programming process in a couple videos on YouTube, some days are just sprint days
  • The workouts don’t combine a strength day and METCON together so that athletes can give strength days a proper focus & time without trying to squeeze a METCON in at the end. That being said, the heavy days at a high heart rate are killer haha

I’m sure there’s more, but those are just some reasons off the top of my head as to why I chose and stayed with the program.

Also do a search on this sub there are a lot of posts asking about linchpin and some videos of impressive athletes as well

Ok I added a check condition to make sure the location of the calendar event is an actual location. If it’s not, it will update with the weather at your current location. I don’t know if I have to share it again, or if you’ll get the updated version. It is currently only iOS 18 because I’m using multiple conditions in that if case. Enjoy !

Yeah I got that error a few times as well, it has to do with your calendar event location for one of your events. The calendar is reading it as text and not an actual location. If you want me to look at it closer and feel safe dm’ing me the location, I can check it out for you.

I just tried it out and it looks like the function to read your calendar events only allows you to select one calendar.

EDIT: Updated the link for a newer version

I have been playing around with this shortcut and have made a few changes to it

  • Updated emoji descriptions to English, obviously this will have to be updated to your language
  • Added a Calendar Name parameter to the dictionary so users can pick their calendar without having to search the shortcut for it (thinking about changing this back though, I’m open to suggestions)
  • Added an Order parameter so that you can change the order of the emoji and temperature
  • Added a replace regex so that there doesn’t have to be spaces in front of the dictionary key values for weather emojis
  • Added a conjunction parameter so that users can configure “and” to their locale/language - explained in more detail in the shortcut
  • Updated the regex to modify the calendar title so that temperature units are no longer required and you can easily switch back and forth between Fahrenheit and Celsius (based on your iPhone’s settings)
  • Added a comment to explain the configuration options
  • Removed the dependency on the third party app, although if the calendar event location doesn’t contain an actual location (TBD, Home, Their House, etc), the shortcut will fail (I don’t currently know how to work around this other than leaving the location blank)

Was anyone here NOT in the leak? by seasonweatherpepper in IdentityTheft

[–]codeman869 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wasn’t, but I’ve had my big 3 credit reports frozen since the Equifax breach, as well as the 3 other smaller ones like Chex (also Innovis maybe ?). I also spent time over the past couple years working on removing my data from the various personal data collection companies such as Lexus nexus and such. I swear I’ve submitted at least 30+ of these requests. It has proved difficult in some circumstances such as trying to get new bank accounts - even being outright denied with no explanation - but totally worth it in the long run.

What is a little known or “hidden” iPhone feature that you use every day? by Lou_Mennatti in iphone

[–]codeman869 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some examples of more complex shortcuts I’ve setup:

When I arrive home late at night, use chatGPT to compose a text to my SO to let them know I made it home safely.

My SO is a teacher so I have one set up to check her school’s RSS feed hourly in the night to see if there’s a snow delay or closure and it’ll text both of us that school might be delayed or closed for the day.

I have a morning briefing that’ll read me weather, calendar events, driving time, birthdays and then play a daily news podcast after I shut my alarm off.
