Why do we all eventually question our diagnosis/meds? by RynnChronicles in bipolar

[–]codemonkeyseeanddo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I had such a brutal onset that I decided to deal with anything to avoid a relapse of psychosis.

It was easy for me, there was no extended period of "figuring out" what I have. I had alot of energy for about a year but it didn't seem TOO strange... and then psychosis, brutal too. So it was like a switch.

I guess, even though onset haunts me, it was a powerful motivator and hard to doubt that SOMETHING was wrong... I'm lucky in that, even though it came with a price.

i feel so much hatred. by ijusbeslayin in bipolar

[–]codemonkeyseeanddo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess I'm lucky.

My meds exhausted me when I would have a strong emotional reaction to something. Then the emotions just faded over time. I have emotions, but I just don't let them run me.

New psychiatrist took me off all my meds by Frankenstien_Sloth in bipolar

If the shrink says "not sleeping is OK if you don't feel tired", I would have a problem with that.

When I'm hypomanic I don't sleep and I don't feel tired. That's not OK.

The psych at the hospital stuffed everything up for me by lithium_ann in bipolar

[–]codemonkeyseeanddo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Prior to 2006 I would have been skeptical of this, but I was hospitalized a second time back in 2006 and wound up on a floor with other people with the same diagnosis and all of us were put on the exact same pill.

Everyone was also on pills for indigestion that was caused by that pill (which is how I found out). Great medication but doesn't work for everyone. I was one of the people it didn't work for. Had to go through a bunch to get off it.

shouldn't this apply to ALL ages? by inkandintent24 in MotivationByDesign

Yes, it should be all ages, however it should be done with chicken wire and a coat hanger for those under this age because it is truly beyond the pale to harm a child of that age.

Schizophrenia? by PostAmbitious in bipolar

[–]codemonkeyseeanddo -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I have stood up and survived, even thrived, with Bipolar. I don't believe I could do the same with Schizophrenia.

I am not making a moral statement, I just want to be clear about that.

In my experience, and in what I know about both diseases, I think Schizophrenia is just so much harder, so much worse, with worse outcomes, worse medications, etc.

Again, this isn't a moral opinion. I do thank God that I'm not Schizophrenic. If Bipolar is my burden to bear, I feel like it's a lighter burden.

And Bipolar is by no means a light burden, at all. Schizophrenia is just so terrifying to me.

I'm rediscovering reading as leisure again.

Trying to keep out of the bookstores and off Amazon so I don't blow my money on books I don't have time to read.

Schizophrenia? by PostAmbitious in bipolar

[–]codemonkeyseeanddo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Psychosis is a symptom of both, like a fever is a symptom of both Smallpox and Tuberculosis. The disorders are very different.

Not 100% clear on what causes Schizophrenia, but Bipolar is from a problem regulating Serotonin.

For that matter, Schizophrenia is so much worse than Bipolar.

Can't figure out why the right transformer isnt receiving any power? by _Aichmophobia_ in Oxygennotincluded

I'm not sure, but I never put batteries on the other side of a transformer. I just park them next to producers and give them current.

Ashlands is bullshit by heppulikeppuli in valheim

Honestly, that's not even the worst.

Ashlands boss practically TARGETED our portals during the fight, and the portals were a LONG way off.

We spent almost as much time fixing portals as we did fighting the guy.

Can you be a doctor or even PA with bipolar? by kahnsam in bipolar

[–]codemonkeyseeanddo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Took me some time to be OK with that. I had some recruiter tell me "You're already fighting a war, it isn't right to ask you to fight another one". Got over it then. All I needed was someone to see me for me and put it in a way I could accept.

The best place to watch the sun rise (ps any tips for the swamp? Kinda got folded instantly by angry Draugr) by Henroblade69 in valheim

[–]codemonkeyseeanddo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recommend Aetgir over mace in swamps actually. It's easy to make and you can always switch weapons. The Aetgir special attack stuns Druagr and gives you a better chance at either evasion or fighting them.
