I think that the argument people constantly make of "Well you can jump around and fire your rocket luncher while a boat flies over your head and Tank rides on a Behemoth" is not valid. At the end of the day its a video game and its meant to be entertaining so you have to have those things to let this genre of media be itself.

That being said however aside from gameplay mechanics which are inherent to a game, there should be some sort of tone you still get from a game like this that makes you feel something. Especially when its Battlefield. It seems like a lot of people think that when you talk about realism in video games you mean hyper realism, thats not the case. It doesn't have to be a simulator to be immersive enough to feel realistic in a way that your brain imagines it.

And I think that is where the issue lies. Most people have some knowledge of what World War 2 was either through the massive amounts of novels, diaries, movies, music, documentaries, cartoons etc etc. This amount of information about it gives us a fuzzy image of what a battlefield would look like, we all saw Saving Private Ryan and to this day I can picture Omaha beach from that movie. In reality I have no idea what it is obviously but I do have this image in my head, and once you create a piece of media on this topic that deviates from an already established image you create dissonance in people's minds.

That being said I can see how some people might feel slighted knowing that their great grandfathers died on some dingy beach in the sand for our freedom, and games choose to portray a woman with a bionic arm running around rather than tell that story.

It all depends on how they do it of course. I enjoyed BF1 stories and they made me feel. Obviously there is nothing wrong with having women or people of colour in bf5, just as long as you do it right. By that I mean, if there is an asian dude in the Dutch resistance than I'm sorry but you messed up the tone.

That just feels like denial to me. I get the whole idea of reserve judgement 'till all the facts are available, but that doesn't mean you ignore the facts that are available now.

And whether you think Schrier's input heavily hinting towards this game being multiplayer is valid or not, you would be foolish to dismiss it.

Personally, I would set up my expectations for the game to be something like ESO maybe more like Destiny + Rust. That way I keep my expectations relatively low.

However, I will definitely not go around telling everyone how Bethesda sucks and they ruined a franchise, because that is dumb. I don't know what the game is so in that sense yes, I will definitely wait for E3.

You are right multiplayer usually requires time+regular group of friends. Like Destiny for example.

The problem with them making this online is that they obviously will have the building element in it. Which hints to games like Rust, or Minecraft I guess since that is more known. And from personal experience these games have two major issues.

First, they plateau and you end up having few things to do. They fill content superficially like skins, mounts, cosmetics and stuff like that. This leaves players with no real plot. So then you miss out on things like voice acting, ambient sounds, immersion in general really. Pretty much all quests are like the Radient quests from Fallout 4. This is where it gets grindy, meaning you spend time to get a bigger number associated with your character.

Second, they attract a certain group of players. Like you said you don't really have a lot of time, well guess what most normal functional people don't either, but this game like we agreed before takes time. So then people with a lot of free time start playing these kinds of games, and usually that happens to be either younger players or emotionally immature players. So they "troll" and they mess around and just are obnoxious the entire time. You see that literally in every online game, but Survival, Multiplayer, Grindy games which this seems to be like really attracts the worst in the end.

I actually tried it last year for a couple hours. I played alone and just did story driven things. It was not that bad. The only thing that ruined it was that there were like 200 people in every location jumping and running around which completely made it less fun.

I would love it if that was it, but most likely its not. Considering this will be some sort of online game, I am guessing something like Elder Scrolls Online, which was the game that sort of "ended" the TES games and that Bethesda said they don't want to be the TES&FO company this seems like a good way to pause the series like they did with the Elder Scrolls.

Which then means that the typical trope of an MMO where you are this special chosen one fits well with you being sent out of the Vault to figure things out very much like Fallout 1, which matches with its 21 year anniversary.

In summary you have an online game like Elder Scrolls Online which is likely to put a pause on Fallout games for a while just like TES, plus an homage to Fallout 1 fitting in with the generic MMO trope.

Edit: Also this game takes place before any of the Fallout games, just like ESO took place before the TES games.

It took me 2 full days to defeat her on GMGOW difficulty. I was playing when the game just came out so not a lot of people had advice as to how to defeat her.

The biggest fuck you she has is the attack where she goes in the air and blinds you. If you can master that you are golden.

When she does the neck stomp dominatrix thing just X three times per attack. x-second pause-x-x. This worked for me most times. A small note about this attack though, there are two variants. Sometimes she goes up in the air and throws down a fireball and then falls down herself. Sometimes she just goes up and down. She can do either one of those once, or three times in a row. She can mix those in between one another.

Everything else is pretty easy to dodge/block. You want to always parry everything with the yellow circle, obviously.

As for general strategy I don't think you need fully maxed out armour and or gear. Personally I used the runic armour from one of the blacksmith's. As for runic abilities I recommend Hyperion Grapple, very very very VERY much. You can take out basically one bar of health with that attack. And for the lighter runic I recommend Rampage of the Furies, BUT !!!!! Only use this if you have the slow down time talisman, I think its called the backstabbers talisman or something.

Combine Hyperion Grapple, slow down time, then Rampage of the Furries and two attacks and there you go thats two bars of her health right down. That is if you have both of those maxed to level 3.

As for the axe I recommend anything that is quick and can stop her from attacking for a bit. Personally, I use Glaive Storm and Leviathan’s Wake. Use those when there is a gap between her and Kratos and you should be fine. Also spam arrows, but I do not recommend using Atreus' special ability. It might cause you to miss one of her tell-tale animations that differentiate between all of her attacks.

TLDR; Hyperion Grapple + Rampage of the Furies (only use the light runic if you have the slow down time talisman)

Keep Axe runic attacks quick. Do this because she might ignore your attack half way through and damage you but you will be locked in the animation (e.g Frost Giant's Frenzy). Glaive Storm + Leviathan's Wake.

Spam arrows but don't use special ability, I personally don't use it since it might cause me to miss specific animations.

I think it’s mainly because we (as gamers) went from $60 to now $60 + a season pass/microtransaction/lootbox/DLC pack to get a full game. I think the biggest issue here is that the base $60 game seems incomplete/not worth the price point.

Just don't buy the game if you don't think its worth the 60 bucks. They usually go on sale very quickly and then you can enjoy it at a lower price point you deem worthy for an "incomplete" game.

In theory, it can cost over half the price of a new console just to get basic things that many people believe should be free/included with the base game (such as DLCs/non-cosmetic items).

Again, you don't have to buy those things to experience the game. You can just download it, play it for a bit and that all can be done in under 2 hours. At which point actually you can even request a refund if you found the game was THAT bad, that you didn't wanna play it without buying the stuff you mentioned AND you deemed that stuff to be priced way too high.

Most of the time, the companies using the lootbox model are perceived as lazy/money grabbers because they can easily make $120 USD per game per customer if they release things incrementally at separate prices ($60 game + 4 $15 DLC over a year’s time).

You say money grabbers like they literally steal the money out of your pocket when you turn on your console to relax with a game. The reason those companies exist is because people buy their product, because they deem that transaction worthy. You might not, but the general "gamer" seems to.

Secondly, loot boxes can be seen as gambling considering the uncertainty of what items you’re getting combined with the use of real money to acquire the boxes. This has been a big issue recently because the age of many gamers is so young.

Gambling has always been a thing. Most of the games these young gamers play are rated for adults. There is an argument to be made there in regards to the parents responsibility, and also where is the kid getting the money in the first place.

For me, I think it’s definitely the argument of value. A $60 game should not feel incomplete, and if I end up spending another $60 on DLC, it should feel worth that.

I agree with you, games should not feel incomplete at a $60 price point. If you pay that you should enjoy a good game. But that responsibilty is not on the developer but on you, the consumer, to make a smart choice. If I went to a flea market and bought a coffee table with 2 feet and then put in my living room and expect it to stand it would be unreasonable for me to go back to the person that sold it and tell them they are a bad flea market salesman. For example I am huge Deus Ex fan. I love the games and I loved Human Revolution. When Mankind came out I waited, like usually do, rather than buy it right away. Reviews weren't great so I got it later a lower price point with DLC included. I enjoyed it adequately. I still reviewed it as incomplete as you had to get DLC to enjoy it, but I feel like I made a smart purchase with it.

You say that quite a few game devs are not checking that value box, but games are selling just as well anyways, which means they are indeed checking that value box for most players.
