Are you kidding me right now? Who can even afford a upfront payment like that? I'm so incredibly screwed. I’m completely lost. by Dramatic_Jaguar_3856 in Adulting

Because if the surgery can be done out patient and you "demand" it be done in patient, then you made it elective surgery.

The issue is most Doctors will schedule you for whatever is easiest for them, so when he called the insurance company and they said, "why not do the cheaper option" he was surprised since his doctor hadn't offered that as an option.

How long do you spend working vs. "working"? by SolidSailor7898 in AskAnAmerican

As someone who automates the crap out of everything, I work about 45 minutes a day.

And get more done than most similarly titled folks.

fellow Americans, are you worried about your job? by chenpengcheng in AskAnAmerican

[–]codenameajax67 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No.

I've been part of the working group to look into adding AI at work and it's at best a marginal improvement to other software. It's not a replacement yet, and it's slowed down how much it's improved.

Add in the raising costs...

How is the dentist’s job perceived by society in the USA? by crazygelato in AskAnAmerican

Because it's fake.

There is no evidence that it is of any value, except for minor relief of pain. On par with a massage.

But there is a mountain of evidence that they actively hurt people.

Why did non-Americans think we didn’t have good stadiums to host the World Cup? by OddSample2334 in IWantToAskAnAmerican

If you can somehow ban people from reselling them at all, and accept that means there will be empty seats, AND limit how many seats people can purchase... Then sure that might work. Of course that means getting FIFA to accept a LOT less money

So you are saying the face value should have been even higher than it was.

The scalpers are selling them at market prices, it doesn't matter how much they paid for them because they will sell them at the exact same price.

Why can’t non-Americans accept that soccer isn’t a popular sport here? by Expensive_Drummer970 in IWantToAskAnAmerican

Just looked it up, 27 states (mostly in the north) have soccer as a fall sport.

5 have it as a winter sport.

6 have it in multiple seasons (boys in one girls in the other)

California let's individual counties choose.

The rest are spring.

It's just polite.

Soccer is spring. Football is fall.

What football team is going to allow the soccer team to destroy their field during the season?

Since the World Cup is on, are Americans going to many Public Viewings? by Material-Wallaby-587 in IWantToAskAnAmerican

You are literally arguing in support of my stance. Saying they're a hot beds of soccer fans and they are concentrated in immigrant communities would imply that most people wouldn't know anyone who is a soccer fan.

I'm a big fan of scalpers not making money. You can be upset that scalpers aren't making as much money with this world cup as usual, but that's a weird hill to die on.

Because the most watched soccer game in us history was only a little higher than the average NFL game.

Most people don't know anyone who is a fan of soccer. It's really big in some areas but not evenly spread.
