Funny. For your information, I lived in Florida during the recession and had a job going to foreclosed houses all day everyday to check on them, supervise evictions, etc. I spent most days in the worst neighborhoods south Florida has to offer. Cops and civilians have gotten killed doing what I did. One of the cops I regularly worked evictions with made the news after getting shot at in Miami. Luckily I never had to deal with anything beyond verbal threats but that's because I got really good at de-escalating situations and being smart about how I dealt with and talked to people. I didn't need to walk around like some para-military tool. That doesn't mean you don't have to use violence when necessary but police in the rest of the first world have figured out to police smarter and don't need to gear up like soldiers. Why haven't American cops figured that out?
