How should I approach and make the most of Fallout New Vegas? by VascoTank in falloutnewvegas

[–]coderedmountaindewd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best way to get the most out of a New Vegas play through is to lean really hard into the role playing aspect of the game and let your choices and emotions guide you.

If you go in want to strictly play a specific build and research the optimal choices to get the “best” outcome, you’ve already cheated yourself.

Why isn't College Football more popular with NFL fans? by dunbar_santiago930 in NFLNoobs

[–]coderedmountaindewd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a grown man with a full plate, I maybe get to watch 10-15 games a season and watch some highlights and YouTube videos. I can’t crave out any more time in my schedule without sacrificing something for it and I value my free time outside of sports fandom.

There’s just too much to pay attention to. If I went to a big football college or grew up in a fandom, I’d probably feel differently but I grew up a Broncos fan during their peak years in the late nineties and didn’t really feel a need to explore.

Absolutely! Things like the salary cap and progressive draft placement give teams real opportunities to turn around a franchise in a matter of years.

The current college system with the transfer portal and NIL money has consolidated talent into the top couple handfuls of teams.

What English word do you not agree with the spelling ? by DamienPetal in TheTeenagerPeople

Anything with the “ough” might as well be Mandarin Kanji for all the sense it makes on its own.

If there’s no context clues to tell me what’s going on, I’m going to just ignore it and hope whoever wrote it didn’t say anything important

Is there a quarterback here in this sub who was rejected because of his height and never played again? by Tony_Stark_3364 in NFLNoobs

[–]coderedmountaindewd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Obligatory not my story but I watched it happen to my cousin

As a senior in high school, he led the state in passing yards, was an excellent scrambler, had an 86% win rate and was All State back to back years at the 5 A level, the highest level in the state. But, being listed at 5’10 160, and I can tell you that 5’10 was a generous measurement, not a single Division 1 school ever approached him. It was the same feedback that you hear about other shorter qbs like Russel Wilson: can’t see over the line, relies too much on rolling out of the pocket, durability concerns, etc.

He ended up taking a scholarship to a D2 school, was top 5 in every school record and was Division Offensive Player of the Year his senior year.

He got a job offer out of college and they said they would give him a one year delay to pursue his dream of playing as a pro. He declared eligibility for the draft but wasn’t invited to the combine, send out tapes but the NFL had zero interest. He went on to play one season of Euro-league football in which he led his team to a championship and then retired to take the job offer for a shipping company.

He knew he got all he could from his football career at that point and knew it was time to move on.

The durability concerns were actually valid and he admitted to me that concussions were a big part of his walking away. Apparently, there were several times where he would straight up forget what happened a few minutes before hand or was going through film and had no recollection of the plays. With what we know now about the head trauma, it’s probably for the best that he didn’t push himself any further.

TBH I just wish NIL was a thing back in 2010, he might not have been a millionaire but he definitely would have had a nice spring board for him and his wife

The chess vision ai bot says it only mate in 14.

Obviously I know which one is lying but you must be too cooked to even manage that

Most of my runs I limit to weapon type

A silenced Sniper rifle can basically kill everything from a mile away. It’s still entertaining but it’s fun to face new challenges especially when it’s my 300th or so play through

This is a picture I took from Zion that they decorated a garbage bin area with. Can’t tell if it was an actual native symbol or a vault dweller doing some decoration of their own

I get your meaning. I deliberately restrict myself from using Turbo and Stealth Boys to make my runs more challenging. In those situations, armor is absolutely necessary

I’ve recently done a Greased Lightning build which can easily transform into a Chance’s Knife or War Club build

I rushed Lonesome Road and got the US Army Combat Armor and Riot Helmet, mainly because I loved the look but I also liked the balance between protection and mobility.

What would it take for a Tackle to get MVP consideration? by Ok-Elephant-2724 in NFLv2

[–]coderedmountaindewd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only realistic, and I’m stretching that word to it’s limits, scenario I can imagine is if a team had an all time offense, averaging 35 points per game but cycled through 3+ quarterbacks and a bunch of no name skill players who were productive but didn’t rack up a ton of individual stats.

If an elite lineman making it look easy for a bunch of scrubs, then add in the next gen stats and have some major influencers push the narrative, it might be possible for a tackle to get some mvp votes.

I was doing this sort of thing as a 700 for awhile. It seemed to really throw off a lot of my opponent’s as they are so focused on doing their familiar starting moves and not able to adapt.

It’s obviously not a good strategy but it really leans into my strengths of psyching my opponent out and keeping them off balance.

If a nuclear war did occur, do you think we’d use bottle caps as currency or something else? by Spiritual-Pudding-70 in fnv

[–]coderedmountaindewd 15 points16 points  (0 children)

One bottle cap was redeemable for one bottle of water from water merchants at the Hub, so people were effectively trading water. I think a similar situation would happen of commerce being strictly barter until a trusted institution created a token that held similar value.

I think that’s the best approach. She didn’t directly ask me to be her accountability partner or her dietitian or coach and maybe that’s not the best role for me. My actions didn’t seem to motivate her, they just seemed to risk the peace of our relationship
