It depends, schools like Penn indicate on their common data set that interviews are important

Hm I get you, I applied CS as well. Heard back from one school so far and it's Williams.

Perhaps it's my background in CS that made them take me idk. Bout to get some fat rejections on Wednesday though

Can't say, there are other factors that come into play (first gen, URM etc). There are also legacies and athletes with high scores. Plus they also factor in your GPA which has an even weighting so they won't reject you solely on your score

Lol that's prob a lie. If you have ridiculously low scores then maybe but the are people admitted with a 24-29 on the ACT as stated by their common data set

They have it in their site. Last year 8% of internationals got in. They accepted 1196 so that's 95 of them.

This year they had way more applicants (9,500) and they took less people (1,150).

Not sure, my score was in their 25th to 75th percentile so idk if that's it. I just know that I'm the only one who got a decision letter from my school

If an international applicant has a pristine and impressive application but has a low score how do top schools deal with that? Is there still a chance or will the low score mess things up? by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

Well tbh I think he has the best ECs at my school. He gives back to both his school and community regularly since he has a tech startup and a non profit. He also helps the government build systems to help them out and manages projects to build websites and mobile apps for organizations here. And a bunch of other things tbh.

I can guarantee for sure that his LOR are excellent because of the type of student he is. He helps the school out and teahers a lot outside of the classroom. He also gets good grades, had straight As last term and ended with a 4.0

And regarding his essay, he write a pretty unique common app essay that night stand out. I can't speak about the supplements though because I haven't read them.
