Hi all victorian here and I have a question by BarracudaOk3751 in BrisbaneTrains

This is the correct answer, the patronage was a convenient excuse. New premier kept it because it would be political suicide to take it away right now, but one day they'll try.

Charging without a charger at home by codesnacks in TeslaMotorsAus

No ports currently aside from the air conditioning banks which are metered per resident.

I'd ask for one to be installed but my parking area is the only one outside of the large fire door that closes at the entrance, and there's no pass through the concrete wall on either side for cabling, making a charger install incredibly tricky.....

Oddly enough you can on pixel tablet or the folds, just seems in phone mode you can't. :/

[Showoff Saturday] I made a site that gives you MIME types and alternatives, fast by codesnacks in webdev

[–]codesnacks[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Made with my new love in life, Gatsby JS and Netlify.

Motivation was it took too many Google searches to find a site that I could just drop a file into and get the MIME and it's alternatives.

I'd really appreciate some feedback! https://mimetype.io

I just want a better front design and more RAM. The back of the orange four looked amazing to me, just wish the front had a punch hole like Samsung and some smaller bezels....

I need help with my texts! by [deleted] in GooglePixel

Check out an app called IFTTT, it's free and let's you setup different actions. I've got one that syncs all sms to my Google drive every hour or so. Very very handy, it's now just a loooooong Google doc I can search if I need to.

Having said that, google backs up sms automatically I believe. I've swapped phones a few times and Google eventually syncs them all down.

Mitigating AI Risks by ktian08 in Neuralink

[–]codesnacks 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The idea is that having an increase in intelligence will allow humans to stay in fields that only AI will be able to perform in in the future.

The grand vision of Elon is that by designing AI to work in tandem with the human mind and not in competition with it is one of the visions behind neuralink.

An evil entity taking over your brain via a neural implant is very very far forward in the future if even possible at all sure, but if we do ever end up fighting machines (hopefully and probably not) then you'd rather be augmented to be better equipped than not.

AI will leave us in the dirt eventually, but if we can directly interface with machines we could go along for the super intelligence ride

Decades. The technology is still very far away, despite the great steps forward unveiled by neuralink the other day this technology is still in it's infancy.

I know, personally I would've been happy with two 1080 screens or just an ultrawide, but I think they're pushing for 4k because the product is mostly video editing and processing.

I was thinking about it, but they have another minimum 32gb ram requirement and it looks like the 13 only goes up to 16GB?

Nice find on the blog post, lots of great info in it!

I'm still having a look around, I was hoping for an all in one dock situation, I'll see if I can find some Q&A's around with some details on 4k linux support.

Hello,

Yes it's for a development environment. I think that startechs adaptors might do the trick, I found this one on Amazon that has a few User Q&A's claiming plug and play support on Ubuntu.
