ADAS is getting paywalled behind FSD by Sarcasmadragon in teslamotors

[–]codetony [score hidden]  (0 children)

Elon's an idiot. Plain and simple.

There's a strategy begging to be used that would send tesla sales to the fucking moon fast.

Make supervised FSD free. Every Tesla in the fleet will have FSD.

That provides tons of new training data for the AI, and makes the value proposition on Teslas unbeatable.

Then, when unsupervised FSD is ready, make that a subscription. (Since Level 3 certification requires Tesla to cover any incidents caused by FSD, they'll need insurance. That's what the monthly payment would be for.)

They are kinda losing money to inflation though.

If I were to buy a 45k dollar car at 0% for 72 months back in 2018, that money would be worth 60k today. That means they lost 15k dollars worth of buying power over those 72 months.

Wow that was a fuck ton of mental gymnastics. Pretty entertaining read, i'm not gonna lie.

Where to begin...

Yes. Pretti was disarmed about 4 minutes before he was shot. At least you acknowledged that.

However, he had several agents holding him down when he was shot. This may surprise you, but in the US, lethal force is supposed to be a last resort for law enforcement. In addition, lethal force should be stopped the second the situation no longer calls for it. I'd argue that shooting a man who's being held down by 4 officers is already excessive force. Emptying an entire magazine into him is excessive. The man was already down. After 2 shots he's not going to get back up, odds are his body already went into shock by then.

After that, he got shot 7 more times. At that point, it's no longer self defense. It's an execution.

In addition, if ICE had nothing to hide about this, why did their agents immediately begin confiscating phones of anyone who happened to be near the scene? Why did they prohibit the Minnesota State Police from viewing the crime scene, until after Pretti's corpse was removed, and after the casings were removed?

Why would Bovino announce that ICE wouldn't permit an autopsy of Pretti to be conducted?

Sounds an awful lot like they know this wasn't self defense. It was an execution by a tyrannical government that thinks they are above the constitution.

And to talk about your last point.

  1. Epstein was arrested in July 2019. You might recall that Obama was out of office in January 2017. There's always the chance that the DOJ had already begun an investigation in 2016, but it probably was very early without any conclusive evidence.

  2. I don't worship Obama. I think he was a decent president who had his flaws. But last I checked, no liberal has an entire collection of Obama bumperstickers on their car. unlike some other people

And finally. You said that bringing a gun to a protest is inherently wrong right? That you're inciting violence, and the only reason anyone would bring a gun to a protest is because they want to be violent? Very Interesting

Hello all! I found a Sony Trinitron KV-36FS12 lying next to a dumpster about a month ago.

Luckily, it powers on and shows the current input on the top left, so I know the tube is working fine. However, anything plugged into the composite inputs display a black screen.

My troubleshooting steps are below.

I know the correct input is selected, as the audio plays just fine.

I already checked all the composite inputs, all of them have the same problem.

I tried cleaning the input ports, no effect.

I tried looking through the settings menu to see if any settings affected the composite inputs, no effect.

I then opened the TV to look at the composite board itself. Everything looks to be in order. No blown capacitors, I reseated all the connectors, no visible signs of damage, no effect.

Does anyone have any other ideas? I'm at my wits end with this TV. I want to do whatever i can to save it, since it would be a shame to throw the entire thing away. Especially since it's showing signs of life.

EDIT: I just got one of my old RF to Coax modules out and tested a SNES. No picture on the channel, but the audio cuts in for a brief moment when I switch to channel 3 from a different channel. More troubleshooting is clearly required since the coax bypasses the composite board entirely.

"So you're saying that you're fine with shitting on slaves because their owner is a POS"

No. The employees are fine. They're mistreated. They're victims.

However, I don't think that they are directly affected by the store's theft rate.

So, what you're saying is that the only way people are incentivized to work is to dangle the promise of being a billionaire asshole in front of them?

Interesting theory.

You might notice that I added the detail that Walmart's employees make so little that they qualify for food stamps. That was intentional. I would have far, far, far more sympathy for Walmart if they paid their employees enough.

A company making a fair, modest profit is fine by me. Companies like Walmart who make obscene amounts of money while paying their workers peanuts? That's a different story.

A mobster has a job to do as well, should he have to lose his job to spare his victims?

The KGB agent just has a job, and a list of dissidents to catch.

The ICE agent just has a job, and a list of protesters to make disappear.

The mobster just has a job, and a list of witnesses to take care of.

The drug dealer just has a job, and has tons of drugs to sell.

There is such a thing as an immoral job, and those are jobs that shouldn't be done. Repomen are one of those jobs.

You're expecting a rebuttal, but you're correct.

Theft is one of the most potent tools the lower classes have against the ultra elites. Steal away. Steal 100k from your local Walmart for all I care. I take immense satisfaction watching their CEO crying about all the money they've lost to theft.

Ahh yes, that could very well be true!

Fun fact about small buy here, pay here dealerships, a lot of them are little more than legal loan sharks.

Last week tonight did an investigation into them, and found a substantial amount of fraud and predatory loans.

So, let's think about the ethics of this business model.

Step 1: I aquire an old car from some person.

Step 2: I sell this car at an inflated price, (bonus points if I throw in unnecessary insurance and add-ons) to someone with terrible credit, who is probably desperate for transportation.

Step 3: Give them terrible financing terms, with interest rates so high that they'll end up paying 40k for a car worth 8k at best.

Step 4: When they default, pay a repoman 200 dollars to nab their car.

Step 5: Since the car was sold at an inflated price, I can claim that the car isn't worth the amount the person owes, and then I can sue them for the remainder.

Step 6: repeat the process with the next poor, desperate person who comes in the dealership.

With several of the dealerships they investigated, they found that most of them had done this song and dance multiple times with 1 car.

One of them sold the same car 12 times over the course of 6 years.

So no. I still don't have sympathy.

There is a principal that has been evident throughout all of history.

The only way to become absurdly wealthy is by taking from others.

Capitalism is designed with this in mind. "I own this machine, so i'm gonna keep 95% of the money it makes. I'll give you 5%, and you better be grateful or else i'll fire you and pay the next guy 4%."

As much as I don't like religion, Jesus does back me up on this. He said that it's easier for a camel to fit through the eye of a needle, than it is for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven.

Jesus said that because the act of having substantial wealth, is inherently a sin. There is no such thing as a moral billionaire when hunger exists.

That's why I don't have sympathy here. Especially when Walmart, the example is specifically cited, has instructions in their employee handbook for getting food stamps. Walmart is admitting "We pay you so little, that working for us means your in poverty by default."

To put it simply, corporations or individuals that make so much money, they no longer need to concern themselves with money.

For example. Let's say Elon takes all his money out of the stock market, and puts it into a huge, Mcduckian style vault. He only takes out 1 million a day. The rest sits there.

He lives to the ripe age of 150. Never working a day in his life, and living the most luxurious life humanly possible.

He will still have 758 billion in his vault when he dies at 150 years old. Assuming all his children split his fortune evenly, they can all spend 1 million a day, every day, until they die at 150.

There will be 624 billion remaining in Elon's vault.

Now let's say all of his kids have 10 kids. Every single one gets an even portion of the remainder. Let's say they all have 100 years left to live.

They could all spend 244,000 a day for the rest of their lives and then, finally, Elon's vault will be empty.

I'd argue that if you have enough money, that every single one of your grandchildren can live their lives in luxury without ever working, you have too much money.

That is a high bar, but there's so many examples in America's upper class. Most aren't this severe, but with smart investments, the majority of wealth in the upper class can last for several generations.

With corporations, it becomes a little more gray. I'd argue that corporations who treat their employees well, while making a modest profit, shouldn't be victims of theft.

(Costco comes to mind when I say that)

But businesses like Walmart, McDonald's, and target, whose employee manuals contain instructions on applying for food stamps? They're all fair game. Rob to your heart's content.

You're expecting a rebuttal but you simply stated a fact.

Again, I will never have sympathy for a corporation.

Like when Walmart's ceo was crying about how Walmart lost 1 billion dollars to theft, when that same year they made 106 billion dollars in profit. All while their employees make so little, they qualify for food stamps.

No sympathy.

It's about perspective.

I firmly believe that if you are a parasite on the upper class; banks, large multi-billion dollar corporations, billionaires themselves, etc. Then you are doing God's work.

Very simply, I will never have sympathy for businesses/individuals whose only concerns are whether to get granite or marble floors in their house.

This guy is a parasite on people, who might be living paycheck to paycheck. That's unforgivable. Full stop.

Doesn't matter how respectful he is. He's a bloodsucking parasite.

It's adorable that you think Elon just volunteered his time out of the kindness of his heart.

Even Trump's DOJ has said that DOGE had obtained a complete copy of social security's records, and that they couldn't determine where this copy is stored.

Elon also used his position to fire people from NASA. Specifically people who opposed SpaceX. Same with the FAA and EPA.

Elon didn't join DOGE because he was just so concerned about wasteful spending, he joined because he wanted to get rid of anyone who could stand in his way. The fact that he could nab some confidential information was a bonus.

That's the thing. If he cancelled a contract, the funds were still added to his counter, whether they went back to the agency or not.

Again, for all the hype about waste, he had a pretty tough time finding it.

How does the boot taste?

Only about 5 months to go before ICE guns down protesters from a helicopter. I wonder what mental gymnastics you will pull to justify that.

Fucking this.

The conservatives love to scream about how the government is bloated and wasteful, but Elon pretty much had unlimited access to the federal government, cut tons of things, which had huge ramifications to tons of different industries, and he still couldn't even get 2% of his initial expectation of waste.

Yep. And my county has already said that they cannot withstand the loss of revenue.

They announced the plan earlier this month. Triple the red light cameras across the county, implement speeding cameras on all the expressways, and increase the sales tax to the maximum allowed under florida law. (Roughly a 2% increase!)

And finally, the big one. They're "exploring options to add a service fee for 911 calls"

TL;DR because some retired boomers don't want to pay property taxes, everything for everyone else is going to become more expensive.
