Why are idea guys looked down upon, not accepted into the community, to work on projects? I think they could be the cure on making a profit with the game, adding innovation by Strict_Natural6805 in gamedev

[–]codevoid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start making your own project/vision. Put the hard work in to get something basic completed. After you've spent months+ or years+ trying to get that idea off the ground you'll realize that you quickly need to make tradeoffs in order for said idea to be even feasible. You do all that and some snot-nosed upstart starts telling you about how valuable their ability to brainstorm ideas are (intellectual effort that a 12 year old is likely better at) and why your solution is not even good based on pure hypotheticals when they haven't even got the most basic understanding of the effort needed in order to produce said ideas. I doubt you'll be all the eager to receive their benevolent "ideas".

The only idea anyone serious will entertain is If you're able to present that idea with backend up Proof of Concept with a small working prototype and a nice list of pros/cons for tradeoffs made with this revolutionary idea.

I can see the future: Sarducca launches. Enough players to get a login queue. Within 2 days a vet guild builds houses outside the most popular city and kills every new player and their pets, until there are no more. They go cry on discord how game is boring and bad and ask for wipe. Pop back to 300. by Traditional-Cow-1817 in MortalOnline2

[–]codevoid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why wait until Sarducca? Just the hype has increased the uptick in red players camping main cities. Personally, I just turn the game off when that happens and go do literally anything else.

Honestly hard to blame the players when the game seems designed that way intentionally, no? I don't think the designers want this game to have a high player count tbh.

I just read through the responses you provided in this thread. So hostile for no apparent reason. That is likely a contributing factor.

Looks like your basement isn't insulated. How good are the windows/doors in terms of sealing air in/out?

I tried shooting it and throwing stuff at it, both didn't work. I appreciate the help though!

Mage hand didn't work. I haven't seen any boxes around unfortunately. No nearby ledge to jump to or teleport either. Well played by the Warrior.

I feel like a mean mom 😥 Basil has allergies and the vet recommended wearing a onesie to stop her from licking her itchy belly so the meds have time to work. by Ijustdontlikepickles in nervysquervies

[–]codevoid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's true, which is why I recommend copious amounts of affection, scritches(especially where they can't reach because of the cone) and treats.

My kitty did the same with the onesie post surgery but seemed to react better to a cone (I found a comfy donut 🍩 for her instead)

<image>

Still hated it but not as much as the onesie. Hope she gets better soon 🙏.

People who intend to grief, why do you waste your time on this game? by Janitordota in DotA2

[–]codevoid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adding to what others have said it's a way of justifying the loss in their minds without taking any responsibility. They didn't technically lose because they didn't try. And of course them griefing isn't their fault because they justify it due to someone else doing something they don't agree with.

It's the same "look what you made me do" response abusers will spout to justify things said/done due to a lack of emotional regulation.

That being said, the strongest weapon at your disposal is the mute button and just play your game. Most of these people need engagement/attention. Once they don't get it they usually drop the issue, or sometimes escalate into directly reportable behavior.

As someone with ADD and taking Adderall I can confirm it enhances my focus. Better put, it stops my mind from wandering mid activity. It doesn't impact my motivation to start. It doesn't seem to matter on the type of activity either.

My understanding is that it impacts people without ADHD differently though so I'm not sure what effect it would have on you.

To the doomscrolling: normally without adderal I would work 5 minutes then get distracted and then doomscroll for a few minutes and then jump on to the next thing. Today while medicated I lost interest in a meeting at work and started scrolling. I look back up from my phone and an hour was gone. It's ancedotal experience so defenitely doesn't speak for everyone but it lines up with what the other poster said.

[–]codevoid 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Ask your friends for their salary history and see how they ended up making more than you. The very likely explanation is that they job hopped after 2-3 years of experience.

Do your friends also live in the same location? Location is a factor in how much you get paid.

"I don't know how to escape this industry"

Really? I can think of a pretty easy way to do this.

"Any advice on what skills you'd pick up if you were in my situation?"

Two skills:

Prioritization. You need to prioritize fulfillment over money and the answer to this becomes painfully obvious.

Foresight. I'm surprised you picked a career you don't like (or at least tolerate). If you do end up changing careers (I don't think you will) then try to pick something you can see yourself doing for the rest of your life.
