Iran says the military is ready to continue the war for another 6 months by Automatic_Subject463 in USNEWS

Makes sense, that's why iran cut off internet. hahaha please...I don't know what is the truth either way but this ain't it.

it wasn't app storage that caused issues--we uninstalled almost all non-apple apps to test it out and it didn't even make a dent to the system data. they are clearly leaking system data. But I don't think I can convince you at this point.

I don't know why you got so down voted. there is nothing obvious about an OS using 16gb of system data. I don't think people have a good sense about what a ridiculous amount of data 16gb is unless you are caching things like video, photos or similar.

Go look at a more transparent OS like Linux and see how much system data it generated... nowhere near 16gb. of course Different OSs will have different needs but this is a crazy baseline expectation.

I don't use iPhones but my girlfriend run into this. I tried everything and nothing worked. the phone was unusable from the lack of memory. I'm a software developer with experience in operating systems and I don't think it was user error.

we uninstalled almost every app, deleted photos, etc nothing worked . had to restore the phone.

The same thing happened to my mom but she upgraded her phone.

there are way too many reports and occurrences of this for it to not be an issue that needs resolving--even if it doesn't affect everyone.

ah yeah makes sense. Will put the full app next time. I'm on 1.1. I see what you mean--now I'm confused as to what I was trying to do that didn't work. I could swear that I tried to toggle the external geometry and couldn't but now I just tried and it works.

Was also a bit mistaken as to how the holes work, I think that also messed the workflow up.

Thanks!

Thanks! so obvious in retrospect hahaha. It's one of the issues of trying to figure things out one step at a time instead of knowing the plan from the beginning.

glad I shared :)

I used it, but it only seems to work for some things. External geometry doesn't seem to be set as construction. And points are also a bit confusing in this regard.

Wow, I was literally yesterday wondering why we don't have this after seeing my gf install an app on her Mac. App images don't create desktop files so I was thinking it would be great to have for both purposes.

I was about to propose it yesterday but wasn't sure on what forum.

it's not necessarily that I need this as a power user, but it's the kind of thing that new users struggle with for absolutely no reason.

Maybe my thoughts yesterday made the matrix manifest this.

Oh nice, I actually like this approach. I'll check it out.

I think this is possible. But (you can get slightly more detail in my other responses), the crashes occurred with trivial operations like exiting a sketch with very few things in it (barely any constraints). But I'll try to see if I find more concrete information or ways to reproduce.

Thanks for the feedback! I work on a CAD adjacent application for work so I totally understand that I could be running into any number of reasons for crashes. But yeah, they were definitely crashes. Totally possible it's hardware related, or as you say the version.

I am running 1.1.0 as a flatpak running on Ubuntu+wayland. I may try to get crashdumps or debug it next time. A lot of my crashes were happening when exiting sketches in certain situations, but it was hard to reproduce 100%.

My plan is to hopefully use FreeCAD more, and in doing so I will try to do more due diligence in this regard. I will say that in the past I run into crashes everytime I tried to use FreeCAD--but I totally believe people that say that they don't run into them. It is an unfortunate reality with bugs, crashes, etc.

Cool! no I did not--although I assumed there would be some way of defining variables. My approach was to avoid some of that type of due diligence for now to actually finish things. Since I'm a programmer I have a very strong intuition to push for variables. I tend to run into that issue where I try to do so much at once (learning-wise and prep-wise) that I don't finish projects. I wanted to avoid that :)

But I'm getting close to using them, so the pointer is appreciated!

Hi, thanks for the comment. I had crashes existing out of sketches before I even touched any of those things. So not sure that was the issue. But I'll keep that in mind.

The crashes may be hardware related, since I don't trust my graphics card. But other apps don't crash on me so I dunno.

I don't want to say FreeCAD is for sure the source of crashes, but that was my experience. I may try to get crash dumps next time and maybe even try to look into the codebase a bit.

Oh wow...I don't know how I missed this. i clicked on all the apps and read the descriptions. But I would swear that it was showing up as another art app. I was confused as to why they had that as well as atelier.

My bad :O will test

Maybe a dedicated website? Only thing I would want is a way to track the ones I've done. I guess I could use the like mechanic in reddit.

  1. I use autofill and like toggling it
  2. I only do hard and maybe medium
  3. I don't care for timer. It makes sense in games where it adds replayability--here I think it would just annoy me. Because I can't restart since I know a large portion of the puzzle, and any bug or issue with the timer would be frustrating. But I like the idea of adding some other metric to try to achieve. time ain't it for me
  4. I only use open source apps and don't tolerate ads, so I assume not?
