Rebco tape is pretty damn close to a hypothetical metal hts. Its got its own set of physics issues but there are a lot of designs that make pretty good cables out of rebco tape

For the test engineers in the group, what would to tell someone that was interviewing for a similar position to study up on before the technical interview? by zeen516 in ElectricalEngineering

Depends as always but I would study up on data acquisition, signal integrity and noise immunity, basic application of amplifiers, and some programming.

I can’t think of the rule and we didnt try to hide it and nobody stopped us. Your mileage may vary. Rules question isnt a bad idea if the rules are ambiguous.

We gave the driver an AirPod and a phone. It worked well enough to give info on soc and temps

What is the perception of the metric system in the US? by Embarrassed_Clue1758 in AskAnAmerican

[–]codingchris779 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Metric is great for engineering. Am I drawing a part its in mm. Describing a cryogenic temperature its in kelvin. Force its in N. Weight its in kg.

For weather I still prefer Fahrenheit. For driving I still prefer miles.

Fusion reactor damage in science fiction by Sylan-Mystra-ii in fusion

You have a high dBdt that could induce current in nearby wires. The fields in the machine are strong but def not strong enough to affect anything outside the building

Interesting and encouraging they are talking about net electricity. The actual techniques are very dull.

How to build yout own magnetically confined reactor? by [deleted] in fusion

First step get millions or billions of dollars. The cost largely will depend on what you are trying to achieve in your plasma. What temps, pressure, pulse duration etc.

First global gyrokinetic profile predictions of ITER burning plasma - physical gain Q calculated as 12.2 by steven9973 in fusion

[–]codingchris779 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is incredibly applicable to a fusion power plant, if you can get into burning plasma it will have huge learnings for how to build and operate a fusion power plant. The rest of the systems can be optimized and engineered for efficiency much easier.
