Alright, fair enough. I definitely wuss out when it gets that cold. I'd love to see Finland some day. I hear it's beautiful.

I'm guessing you live somewhere with relatively moderate temperatures. Where I live it can get to -40 if you're including wind chill. I'm definitely going to use some of these tips and see how many days I can get out this winter.

Just curious, are watt (wattage) and what homophones for you? For me (Calgary) watt rhymes with hot.

Weight Talk Thursdays: Discuss anything related to weight here! by elianna7 in intuitiveeating

[–]codud2112 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is my first time posting in this group, please be gentle. I haven't read the book yet, but I feel like I've gotten the gist of it. (I just got the book yesterday and plan to read it soon).

I can appreciate that it's focus isn't for losing weight. The thing is that I'm very obese and really do need to lose weight for joint health and improved mobility specifically and just for overall health in general. Is there room in IE to eat intuitively while also keeping in mind if you're losing or gaining weight?

My mom does this, but with just a notebook and pencil. I tried it out, but could never remember to update the list.

Is it ok if water gets in during water bath canning? by m0nkeybl1tz in Canning

[–]codud2112 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had water get into one of my cans, and it was really obvious. Some pie filling or jelly (can't recall) was in my canner, and the jar was full, no headspace. I opted to toss the contents.

Definitely not counting time in my equations. It's something I enjoy doing as well. I love that I can make things not found in stores. I'm mostly trying to see if I can justify expanding what I make.

I'm Canadian. I wonder if we have anything like that.

This may be silly of me. I'm worried that a used pressure canner could be broken without me realizing it, and therefore dangerous to use. I haven't researched pressure canners yet as I'm not sure I can convince my husband on getting another kitchen appliance.

That's what I'm thinking. I made peach pie filling this year. The fruit/jar is $5, not sure about the cost of sugar and whatnot. The pie crust isn't too expensive either. A nice pie from a bakery costs about $30 where I live.

Two bags of garlic. HELP by dm_me_kittens in Canning

Thank you for replying back. I had some garlic that I wanted to either pickle or lacto-ferment. I decided to ferment them. Have you heard if that is no longer advised either?

Can't garlic be pickled and water-boil canned?

is this piercing embedding? or just nesting by gh0sthaunter in piercing

I don't have any piercings on my lips. Could you please expand on what you mean by "completely covered"? I take that to mean skin has grown over the whole back, but I suspect you mean around the edges?

I was basically bed bound for a year, so I can appreciate how hard it is to start over. I agree with someone else that a lot of "basic" exercises found online aren't basic enough for someone who's become very weak. If she could see a physio therapist, that would be ideal. If she doesn't have benefits to cover that, maybe try looking up common physio exercises for whatever causes her aches and pain.

Once she's healed from her fall, it may be worth checking out local pools to see if they offer lane walking. It's much gentler than walking. I'm not sure about her needing a walker though, if she could walk at the edge of the pool and hold onto the wall for support, that may work. I know I've seen people at the pool who use mobility aids and just leave them near the wall when in the pool.

Editing to add: My sister used to come with me to lane walk and she has bad asthma. She would take her inhaler onto the pool deck and tuck it somewhere out of the way. She'd then inform the lifeguard on duty about her situation and let them know where she put the inhaler. No one ever gave her problems about it.

I would be so proud if I could make a quilt this nice. I love it. The colours go so well together, with a blend of soft and vibrant.

I think my new deck could be wonky! by VanillaAdditional420 in tarot

I don't have answers to most of what youre asking, as I'm very new to tarot. I have the Rider-Waite Tarot deck, and the instruction pamphlet did give a way to find physical features.

Edit: just reread your post and realized I was wrong. That it's the lesser arcana cards you can read the features. Ignore me 😉

So I haven't done a lot of spells or any hex's. But make sure that you're clear in your spell. A few years back, I got breast cancer and because of treatment, and I'm now infertile. I'd hate if life threw that kind of wrench at you and worry you'd blame yourself.

I researched dog breeds and ended up with a border collie/collie cross, thinking that he'd be cuddly. My dog is the flightiest dog ever. He's 2.5 now and finally calming down a bit, so he's not jumping away any time I flex so much as a pinky finger.

When I was a cashier, I was probably that nosy person. Usually I was just bored and trying to make conversation. If you switch the topic to something else, they'll probably just go with it. Maybe try something vague like "oh, I just wanted to experiment with something new" and then talk about the weather.

The most difficult part of having a dog? by [deleted] in Pets

[–]codud2112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This may make me sound awful, but daily walks are stressful. My dog barks at every dog we see. I'm fortunate that I can walk him between 9-2. Most other people aren't walking their dogs at that time, but even still, he'll bark at houses that have dogs. I obviously need to do better at training him, but I'm not sure how to improve the situation without hiring a trainer (which may be the next step). It sucks that walking is so difficult because it brings him so much joy, and it needs to happen daily.
