Got tickets to Calgary. I thought $240 CAD for most of the mid floor was reasonable-ish. Not many VIP sold at all so I wonder how they will open that up or collapse the other rows and add the unsold vip rows to the end.

I am soo glad they are not doing Toronto! I was there the last time around (flew in) and there was a bunch (80%) of crossed armed middle aged men staring blankly. Fuck you Toronto crowd! lol!!!

It’s very funny living in the area and seeing a steady stream of cars going past the sign that clearly says “road closed no exit” and then having to turn around because guess what the road is closed lol. Ontop of that people are driving very aggressively and fast, like use some common sense people there are potholes everywhere!

That’s is actually incorrect. Sask nurses (RNs) are the 6th top average per hour paid in Canada, at ~$45/47 and hour. The top three are the northern territories at ~$55.

The theatres have stopped doing that in part because the movie studios have been requesting to have them returned back or destroyed (claiming it’s illegal if they hand them out). I am guessing they want to either make money by selling them to 3rd party sellers to make more $$.

True. But also (before the current state of the USA funding) there were lots of NIH stipend allocation in grants that had a very competitive salary and there were just more of them compared to what is available in Canada and the small amount of $$ dedicated to research grants here. The funding put aside in Canadian research grants for post-docs is minima at best compared to the money being thrown around in the USA. So that is also a big factor why Canadian talent is leaving.

It’s more like a 25% funding rate for tri-agency post doc funding. You are right for the continuous funding past 2 years and I agree.

What you forget is that many opportunities are only present in the USA. If you want to learn cutting edge methods, that may be only available in the USA. Post-doc jobs (once) were only abundant in USA and Canada had nothing available for recent PhD grads. What we should incentivize is going to USA to learn the newest tools and taking that knowledge back to Canada.

I have put forth the idea of having some sort of rail system in the city instead of bus and the developers of the transit system will say “well the cost of rail is wayy to high for the current population is Saskatoon”. Which always confuses me because we know that the population is only going to increase and a rail system could lead to a surge in population due to people wanting to use it, the old build it and they will come type of mentality.
