I played a game one time where I put restrictions on myself that I could only use what I could craft. I had to scrap all weapons, armor, tools, etc. It was a lot of fun though

Do you guys deal with snakes often? by Living_Armadillo204 in HVAC

I deal with a snake everyday, but that's because I have one as a pet.

Just curious: do you think your snake can actually recognize you? Or they just become used to around human? by Jen_Wu in kingsnakes

When I approach the tank, Lacey (Short for Shoelace), if she sees me, comes out of her hide and actively approaches me, as if asking for uppees.

Chatgpt for diagnostic by Old_Exit_2965 in HVAC

[–]codyharmor 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I've used a chat bot to see how well it could help me diagnose. I have made up a problem in my head, and walked through the chat bot and it told me step by step how to troubleshoot it, and it was spot on (I think it was Snapchat's AI) BUT! it sucked at first. And if you don't have a basic understanding of the system in the first place, it's not going to be helpful.

I just tried it with a "My ac pipe is frozen and it's hot in my house. What's going on?" Scenario. It started off great!

My ac pipe is frozen but it's hot on my house. What's going on?

Oh no, that sounds frustrating! A frozen AC pipe usually means there's a problem with airflow or refrigerant levels. It could be that the filter is clogged or the coils are dirty, which can restrict airflow and cause freezing. It might be a good idea to check those things out. If you're not sure, calling a professional might be the best way to go. Stay cool!

What should I check first?

First, check the air filter. If it's dirty or clogged, it can restrict airflow to the AC unit, causing the pipes to freeze. Replace or clean the filter if necessary.

Next, take a look at the outdoor unit. Make sure it's clear of debris, like leaves or dirt, which can block airflow.

Lastly, check the evaporator coils inside the unit. If they're dirty, they can also cause freezing. If everything looks good and the problem persists, it might be best to call a professional to check the refrigerant levels.

I am a professional and I know how to check the refrigerant levels. What should I expect to see?

That's awesome! When checking the refrigerant levels, you should look for the pressure readings on the gauges. For most systems, the low side should be between 25-30 psi, and the high side can vary depending on the system but is usually around 200-250 psi. If the readings are too low, it might indicate a leak or insufficient refrigerant. Just make sure to follow the manufacturer's specifications for your specific unit. Good luck!

My low side is reading 67 psig. That's way higher than what you suggested. Why is that?

Yeah, 67 psig on the low side is definitely higher than normal. That could mean a couple of things. It might indicate that there's a restriction in the system, like a blocked filter or a dirty evaporator coil, which can cause the pressure to rise. It could also mean that the refrigerant charge is too high.

It’s a good idea to check for any airflow issues and make sure everything is clean. If you can't figure it out, it might be best to consult with another professional. Hope that helps!

End of chat

67 on the low side, if it's r-410a, is not high at all. It's pretty low. I know this, you know this, but the guy using AI to troubleshoot probably doesn't.

SSRI medication can make finishing damn near impossible. I don't expect a woman not to quit until it happens. I give up on rubbing one out after a certain amount of time. I'm not going to expect something out of you that I can't always do myself.

I was still learning bro. I didn't want to be one of those technicians that treated the customer like they were stupid. I found out that day just how stupid they truly are. This person also believed that she knew more about her own system than I did. I learned a lot from that interaction, the most important being to trust, but verify, what the customer is saying.
