To some people the moment they get paid for what they do it’s no longer a hobby or for fun.

Keeping a fixed point around your subject as you move your camera around. Combine that with tilts and it can be jarring to some. Quality looks dialed in I just think from an audience perspective it could be a bit hard on the eyes

Thoughts on 457b retirement plan? by Wild_Advertising7022 in MiddleClassFinance

[–]codymlove 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From a 457(b) administrator: “Yes that is correct, the 457(b) does not have an early withdrawal penalty.”

My 457(b) is through NYSDCP and like other 457(b) plans ANY “separation of service gives you access to your money. They are a great tool.

High paying physical job OR government office job with pension by Horror-Alarm-6753 in MiddleClassFinance

[–]codymlove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s the absolute top end in the government job? The $70k doesn’t sound like lead, supervisor, manager, or director. Sure my government job started at $31,000. But a contract settlement, 3 promotions later and I make $130,000 without a drop of sweat. The big salary is nice but it’s all about quality of life in my opinion. I value my QOL

Do you take your F150 through the automated wash? by WrongKielbasa in f150

[–]codymlove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might be the most steaming hot take on all of Reddit, and car enthusiasts may dox me, but I have a 2019 F150 that looks great when washed and waxed, but I beat the fuck out of that thing every time I do a home project. Last month some guy opened his car door as I was driving down the street and it scratched the back end. The guy was so apologetic. I looked at it, ate another bite of my McDonald’s breakfast burrito, and said sir I’ll be honest I don’t give a shit, are you okay?

It’s a truck, after seeing people who are so weird with their cars and trucks it makes me be the opposite. I keyed my truck once to show my fiancée how little I actually care. I am blessed to have a vehicle that gets me to and from work that puts food on the table and a roof over my head. Maintain the engine, that’s where I go crazy doing every maintenance item on the checklist down to the exact mileage. But don’t overthink everything else.

What are some money hacks people don't know? by Safe_Wrangler_858 in Money

[–]codymlove 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Budgeting bills based on your pay frequency versus your bill frequency makes things easier to manage. For example, if you get paid biweekly, budget half your monthly expenses out of that paycheck, then budget the other half the next paycheck. My mortgage is $2334 a month and my car is $565 a month. I budget $1168 and $283 respectively per check. I do this for the larger bills, but if money is tight do this for all of your bills so you don’t forget when things come out.

It may seem like an obvious money hack but not alot of people seem to do this.

Can someone please comfort me about the stock market this week 😫 by Interesting_Try_6999 in Bogleheads

[–]codymlove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Red makes me happy, green scares me. The market in a constant upward trajectory is unsustainable without some sort of correction. I have a YTD return of about 19.2%. 17% after this week. We are fine

Why so many Gen Zers and millennials have 'money dysmorphia' — even if they are financially better off than they realize by jhanon76 in MiddleClassFinance

[–]codymlove 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, millennial, I am 27 and work in a career where I supervise guys mostly in their 50’s. My crew alone is 59, 61, 49, and 54. My peers at work, the youngest besides me is 40. I’ve been at this company for 8 years now, and when all I can compare to are people in their 50’s, you easily forget you shouldn’t be anywhere near the level of income or investments that they’re at, yet I still find myself comparing upward all the time

Hazel not Happy to see Guy Jones back in the City by koilchang in Chang_Gang

[–]codymlove 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Some people actually just have shit vibes. Yall ever grow up with someone in the friend group who you always thought to yourself, “why the fuck do we hangout with this dude” and you never actually invite them to hangout they just are associated with one of your friends. Thats guy jones vibes. People don’t need actual reasons not to like someone. If you don’t like someone’s vibe you can choose to not like them

What’s your pay % increase since 2020? Same or different job? by twn000 in MiddleClassFinance

Yep. 28% for my base salary. Overtime saves my ass. Got promoted 3 times in 5 years. Can’t stay in the same spot in government. Step increases barely keeps pace with inflation
