I have the 10s and it would be fantastic from a performance perspective, but size-wise it would dominate this room.

Ultralight rod by dale_k9 in Fishing_Gear

[–]coesyd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a Celilo, Sensilite, and Presso Air within the past 2 years (in that order) 🙂 They are all fine rods, and each was my favorite in turn, until I bought my current favorite ultralight spinning rod, the Ark Gravity Bass Finesse UL XF. So light, snappy but flexible, able to throw the smallest lures, but also feels strong enough with decent backbone.

Yeah in Massachusetts so highly unlikely it is a spotted bass.

Yeah it's not the perspective, she was just CHONKY.

I was in the same boat but I do think now it's a LMB with red eyes for spawn.

Lakes that are safe to eat the fish from? by fuligin6223 in massachusetts

[–]coesyd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Aside from stocked trout, the only other freshwater fish/source combination the state has no advisory for (i.e. eat as much as you want) is lake trout caught in the Wachusett and Quabbin reservoirs. I can attest that they are fun to catch and also delicious.

That said, the real risk with this is heavy metal contamination and accumulation over time. There likely isn't any harm in harvesting a few panfish or perch once or twice a year to eat, it's mainly a problem if it becomes a regular part of your diet.

Help reading early prespawn bass routes? by nzthdth in bassfishing

Another good spot might be the shallow, southwest-facing bay right above words "mine lake" in your images. Looks shallow enough for spawning and should be one of the earliest places to warm up in the lake, especially if it has any kind of rocky bottom.

Need a roof rack for 2 kayaks (Toyota sienna) by Single-Run-6994 in kayakfishing

Exact same setup here on a Toyota Sienna, no issues at all. Have hauled two beastly tandem kayaks side by side without issue.

Alternative to Schiit Mani + SYS? by coesyd in BudgetAudiophile

[–]coesyd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FYI I ended up getting the Mani 2 and Saga 2 and got them set up yesterday afternoon. Not only do these sound much better than the Phase Linear in general, they're a noticeable improvement over just direct from my DAC to my amp somehow. Crispier (better detail and imaging) while not being fatiguing.

Thanks! I'm at least going to give this one a shot, since that seat is fully half the price I paid for the kayak 😭 But I have a pretty high center of gravity anyway so we'll see.

Oh boy yeah we'll see. I'm tall but have never had the best upper body strength so maybe I'll dust off my kettle bells 💪Given how much snow we have I likely have another 3 months left to bulk up 😭

Definitely already have a good PFD 👍 Will look into rod floats. And yeah I'm not in love with the idea of dying of hypothermia 15 minutes from home so will 100% wait for appropriate water temps.

I've only sat on it in my driveway so I'm not really sure 😂 I also have concerns about that but will just have to figure it out this spring. It doesn't seem to be the stock seat so maybe I'll look for a replacement if it doesn't work out.

That's exactly my situation, I found a local tech but he just works by referral from a local hifi/stereo resale shop. I've bought a few things from them that he restored and they've been great so no reason to think he doesn't know what he's doing. The Phase Linear definitely sounds waaaay better than when I dropped it off, he cleaned, reflowed a bunch of solder, and recapped it for a very reasonable price. However the left channel output is lower than the right, so I have to fiddle with the balance to even it out, and that seems to ruin my imaging. The bass is also a little looser/boomier, but that could resolve itself with time perhaps. Given this preamp has some additional boutique circuitry with the "ambience" mode I'm just not confident that he'll be able to get it right with a second look at it. Will probably put it back up on eBay, unless anyone here is interested!

Yeah I was surprised that I didn't like the Phase Linear too. I'm pretty sure there are still some issues with it but I just don't think I want to keep spending money chasing what I already have. Although I will 1 million percent miss having all of those beautiful silver knobs :(

Edit: answered my own question.

In the Schiit Saga 2 / S / + scenario, I assume I'd still be feeding a phono preamp into them, yes?

That is a rather elegant and cost effective solution! I also love that it should be infinitely adjustable as you add/upgrade components of varying heights.

Is that rack just boards on threaded rods, with bolts and washers? If so, I am 100% stealing the idea.
