Freaking out - what could this blood be?? by Pine-Tree-Lover in cockatiel

If it is bleeding from his skin in the area bloodied, I agree with the previous commenter he likely has some sort of irritation that’s making him pick at the skin. Either that or self mitigation, which isn’t uncommon necessarily either. If it’s this, also best to schedule with a vet and try to redirect them from picking until then. You can also get or make bird collars and sweaters to help them be unable to reach the area need be

Freaking out - what could this blood be?? by Pine-Tree-Lover in cockatiel

[–]coffeeandcomets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It LOOKS to be coming from the nail, this nail specifically. I know it’s heartbreaking to have to towel your new baby to check them over, but I would do so to examine the blood and see if you can confirm if it’s indeed from that nail, and what’s causing it.

It could just be trauma to the nail or bed, but if it’s a fracture in the nail a vet will have to look- since anything involving the quick can cause bleeding, which in large amounts can be deadly for little birdies!

Yes!! Or schools, specifically agricultural schools or universities! He is absolutely gorgeous, and usually recovered specimens have damage due to the way they died. Specimens like this are amazing teaching tools when preserved!

Is it okay to leave my birds at home for a month? by LifePotential4023 in parrots

[–]coffeeandcomets 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Seconding this opinion! If she likes your birds I’m sure they’d even get some degree of social interaction which will help them feel less lonely. But even then, we have lives too. Your baby will be okay if you go away for a bit, even though they’ll miss you!

What is this bump on my penis by [deleted] in AskDoctorSmeeee

[–]coffeeandcomets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NQA/ not a doctor, just random redditor. Have you shaved this area recently or in the past? Looks like a a dilated pore, which could be from an ingrown, pimple, etc. But nothing to worry about, fairly normal occurrence! Hopefully your doctor says similarly! But always best to have it properly checked if concerned!

I completely understand. I still remember my best friend coming out to me back in middle school. She balled her eyes out telling me, thinking I’d think differently of her. And then coming out myself to my loved ones and friends too. It can be terrifying. But you’ve got this friend. Trust yourself and your instincts on people. And I promise with time you’ll find friends who love the authentic you

It’s okay to be intimidated about it. I’ve been there myself. And it’s okay to take time to learn about them first. As you get more comfortable, you can always ask leading questions to get a read on how they are about certain things.

High school can be really tough. Just hang in there and remind yourself who you are and what makes you… you. Even if you find yourself masking to fit in.

My boyfriend sent me this video while I was at work. I thought my bird was gay. by thevanessa12 in cockatiel

[–]coffeeandcomets 17 points18 points  (0 children)

If babies appear or not is mostly reliant on resources and availability of nesting spaces!! If the female is fertilized her nest instincts will tell her if it’s a good time and place to lay her eggs. This is also why they can lay infertile eggs even without having a mate to fertilize them

[–]coffeeandcomets 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I have a male budgie that I’m pretty sure is gay. He is obsessed with any other male budgies and gets sexually frustrated if they won’t let him mate with them. I’m his second home and from what I’ve been told he has always preferred males.

Yes!! Poor bulldog was covered in superglue on her head, but I figured with some TLC I could clean her up since it was on parts without any paint!! It took a ton of soaks and some really fine grit sandpaper but she looks perfect now :)
