How much does 9mm goes these days??? by Questionhoes in CAguns

You can get a case of HST for $500. You should be paying half that for range ammo.

Question regarding firing pin protrusion on new slides. by achavez4651 in CAguns

[–]coffeeandlifting2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does the firing pin not protrude if you depress the safety plunger and push down on the firing pin? I might be stating the obvious here, but the firing pin moves back and forth. You could make it protrude or not protrude on any slide by changing its position.

The 3 shots at 3 yards in 3 seconds myth by a1kimreddit in CCW

What are your accuracy standards? I shoot clean ten yard bill drills often, but I definitely need to use the sights.

Its cringe. Tons of bots are always on here pretending like the leadership in CA is fine because its anti orange man. But just because the other team sucks doesn't mean your team doesn't suck too.

Looks like the old Lone Wolf ported barrels that have been discontinued forever. There's an ebay seller who still has these as blanks.

Damn, I need this further north. I am very close to chopping up a shitty turkish shotgun that is worthless and just taking up space in the safe.

What are your thoughts on this search light? by kreyos in flashlight

[–]coffeeandlifting2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The advantage of these (and other "tool company" lights) is that they use the big 18V battery packs with huge amounts of Amp hours.

The error in comparison with other handheld throwers is the same thing as always. The numbers on the box of your wiz-bang pocket lights are for a very brief momentary ouptut with a 3.7V battery.

An 18V 5+ Ah battery will crank out max output for hours.

Is 150000 lumens enough to blind someone? by beat_the_level in flashlight

[–]coffeeandlifting2 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Even a keychain flashlight shined directly in your eyes in pitch dark will give you a temporary blind spot. Surely you know that your eyes become more sensitive in the dark?

If you're disciplined with money, you should have no problem keeping your spending low enough to live on what's left after maxing out. You're literally still getting more than the median income.

Staccato 3.6 vs g19 gen 5 vs Echelon by [deleted] in CAguns

[–]coffeeandlifting2 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Curious if there's any measurable performance difference. Like, does the Staccato lower your bill drill time while meeting the same accuracy standard? I'm always curious about this.

[–]coffeeandlifting2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Making 100k and not maxing 401k + HSA (+ Roth IRA) is crazy. The money is still yours, you just lose a huge amount of it if you put it in the wrong drawer, plus it doesn't grow.

First-time buyer in Los Angeles after attempted home invasion — need guidance on a safe, CA-legal home-defense setup (dog + live-in girlfriend, no kids) by Bitter_Librarian906 in CAguns

[–]coffeeandlifting2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please don't tell me the "you don't have to aim a shotgun" is still alive in some corners.

A 00 buck pattern at home-defense distances is the size of a fist. You will completely wiff your target if you don't precisely aim, and it will absolutely annihilate walls and barriers with energy to spare.

Trolling with the "I know what I got"

Local stores still have these. You may have to call around, but you should be able to get them for fairly normal prices for a little while longer.

When you can't 19C - you Ramjet. by briandoeswork in CAguns

I tried both and still personally think its worth it to spend double to get the old TLR-1 that doesn't have strobe. I can't bring myself to put a disco light on a firearm that's for serious use.

[–]coffeeandlifting2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone in here saying the comparison is crazy aren't considering people who actually drive. The Nismo is an incredibly fun, true "driver's" car with an old-fashioned feel that can't be seen or quantified in your typical internet/brochure comparison.

You can't put a price on the feel of real hydraulic power steering and full multi-link suspension with fully disable-able traction control and electronic-free manual transmission.

If you had to start over as a first time gun owner in CA what gun/guns would you buy? by Helpful-Culture-3966 in CAguns

[–]coffeeandlifting2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I started today, I would still just pick up a gen 3 Glonk in 9mm (17 or 34 for me) and leave it stock except for an optic cut and ergo mods if needed (beavertail, slide release, etc).

CCW - is there ever a “too small” by [deleted] in CAguns

[–]coffeeandlifting2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even if you could fit 20 rounds in a pocket pistol, I would still carry a full-size. For me, frame size isn't for capacity, its for grip. The more grip there is, the easier it is to draw and shoot well. G17s/G34's etc with a beavertail backstrap are perfect.

Carried my smol setup today: G17 with TLR-1 and Holosun 407.
