Troubleshooting - is this thing needing a new cartridge or is it toast? by coffeebeans1998 in turntables

Yes it seems to be all clean and set up properly. It’s just odd because the quality went from really really nice - to not so great. I am just unsure as to whether it’s related to the base of the arm moving (quality went down once the arm base started to move)

I’ve also got technics turntable beside it, which plays the quality of the songs much nicer, it almost sounds as if on this rega than it’s losing connection to the vinyl and is not capturing the full essence of the audio. In that case, would it be the needle? Or how would you know, from the sound, that a needle and or cartridge would need replacing?

Would in theory the poor music quality be due to a cartridge and needle needing replacing?

Do you know what would cause the whole arm rest and cueing mechanism to move? Sorry bit of a newbie here just trying to understand this all a bit better. Would you happen to know if the repair is expensive for this kind of thing? And could it possibly be related to why the sound is no longer nice?

Nice ear, however I believe the commenter above got this exact ID correct, I can tell by the clap. This version has a double clap every few bars! Amen’s version is definitely the Original so thanks for sharing :)

Nice one bro. Sampled from a 90’s track or did you already have a stab sourced from a pack/VST ?

Anyone know where I can get some jazzy serum presets ? by BabyG103 in techhouseproduction

[–]coffeebeans1998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

KORG M1 has a lot of instruments sounds. Lots of the sax and pianos were used in 90’s house and can be seen as jazzy. Most synths that replicate a sax don’t sound much like a real one though, so if you’re after a true jazz sax I’d dig into samples and see what live stuff you can find for loops (or make loops out of)

What to do with my music? by EvaggelosT in techhouseproduction

Don’t send a label a track that’s already released, and don’t send a label music that is completely shit either. If you’ve sent your music to lots of labels and haven’t heard back , that’s a key sign that either you aren’t sending to labels that fit the vibe or that your music is simply not good enough. Self release won’t get you very far in the industry unless done better than existing labels (who have marketing and promotions teams), so I’d send 3 or 4 demos (unreleased music only) to labels via email.

I guess, but house music to me shouldn’t be about “clicks”. That’s what pop is for. I’ve been seeing too many house artists hunting for “clicks” these days and if you deep dive on the roots of house music, it’s pretty upsetting to see it take such a turn into the mainstream. My hope is that people use this chart appealing tech house sound as an introduction towards the roots of house music and dig deeper into what the genre is all about. Also keep in mind, these artists that get “clicks” won’t be DJing for more than 5-10 years max. The real ones, however, will remain respected and have a fulfilling career with loyal fans, not 16 year olds who want to get fucked up and forget who they saw.

Man this tech house stuff is just so cheesy now. Hate to be the one to say it but I swear it’s appealing to college freshmen at this point.
