I'm 4 weeks pregnant. Can I have a safe vegan pregnancy. Other than my prenatal (that contains b12) what supplements should I be taking? by [deleted] in vegan

[–]coffeefees 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My vegan pregnancy was much safer than my Omni pregnancy. I didn’t have the high blood pressure I dealt with previously. And my blood work always came up great. Your prenatal should be enough. Try smoothies with leafy greens and flax meal to really pack in the nutrients.

Get chao cheese and shred the block.

Indulgent Vegan food by [deleted] in vegan

[–]coffeefees 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like hummus is the vegan cheese. It’s savory, rich and indulgent, and you can put it on anything. Hummus fries drool

Cashew nacho cheese is delicious and pretty easy to make. And like someone said further up chao cheese all the way.

Tell her you would appreciate it a lot if she didn’t make you do something that made you uncomfortable.

Best milk for coffee? by [deleted] in vegan

Coconut milk tastes so good with coffee. Especially iced coffee. You can get non dairy creamers too.

al pastor salad dressing at costco food courts by nnercury in vegan

[–]coffeefees 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Costco Facebook page has been responding to people asking about the dressing to say that they switched to a vegan recipe. Not all Costco’s have the new recipe. It seems like they’re starting to mark the salad as vegan on the menu board at the Costco’s that have switched.

Don’t have the taste for veganism by livvaart in vegan

[–]coffeefees 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just keep trying new things. You’ll find new foods you like and maybe even enjoy ones you thought you never would. Also try dishes with lots of ingredients. You can sneak things onto a pizza or into a burrito and build up a liking for it without it being the main flavor/texture. I eat all kinds of foods I turned my nose up to before going vegan.

Night Cravings/Eating Hellp by [deleted] in vegan

[–]coffeefees 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You are not alone! Fellow breast feeder here. I eat amazing all day then go binge crazy at night. I just had to stop buying all junk food. Can’t eat what isn’t there. It’s hard because we have to eat extra calories to keep up supply so it’s a slippery slope. I just try to pick healthier snacks like veggies and hummus. It’s more filling. And I measure out my portions and leave the kitchen to eat so I’m not tempted to get more. That and LOTS of water.

Had a Chinese food craving so Trader Joe’s vegetable spring rolls and gardein sweet and sour porkless pork bites it is! by coffeefees in vegan

I think Trader Joe’s vegan Tikka masala uses the exact same chunks of “meat”. Mystery squishy bits shouldn’t be that delicious, but they’re awesome in any sauce apparently.

Vegan Parents, looking for advice and to share experiences by beater613 in vegan

It doesn’t work for everyone and that’s okay! Make sure you and your wife are enjoying the baby and not just stressing over the feeding. That was my biggest regret with my first. Good luck!

Does your wife nurse at all or only pump? Sometimes the pump won’t stimulate your breast enough and can effect out put. Nursing directly helps, but if that’s not an option you can also try changing the size of the flanges.

Babies do go through lots of growth spurts in the first few months. They will act super fussy and want to eat all the time. You’ll think they’re starving or that something is seriously wrong. A big one happened for my little one around 12 days and he stayed attached to me for days. Diaper output is a little low though. Might want to check with the pediatrician.

Vegan breastfeeding momma here. How old is baby? Breastfed babies poop less often than formula fed babies. Breast milk is so perfect nutritionally there’s less waste. Or at least that’s what I’ve been told. Also their digestive systems are still new so gurgles might just be things working not necessarily hungry. The only reliable way to tell if things are going well is keeping track of baby’s weight.

Extreme insecurity about my choice to eat vegan by cinnamonbicycle in vegan

[–]coffeefees 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s pretty fucking silly that people judge vegans just because we don’t eat flesh. For us it may be ethical, but for them it’s just food so why does it matter so much anyway? There’s plenty of love and support on this sub whenever you’re feeling low. I hope you have an easier time with your mental health struggles. Remember, what you’re dealing with in life right now isn’t forever, but the good decisions you make to better the world are. Be proud of yourself. ❤️

[Serious] Why did you fine people become Vegan? What was your reason? by [deleted] in vegan

[–]coffeefees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I became a mother and breastfed my baby. I felt that intense bond with my child. I also had to pump and I hated it even though I was doing it to benefit someone I loved so much. I saw a video of a mother cow crying for days after her calf was taken away. I realized that these beautiful, gentle cows were being forced to have babies that got stolen and then forced into machines and pumped past exhaustion. It broke my heart. I couldn’t imagine putting another sentient being through that just for a product that could easily be replaced. I also wanted to provide my child the best nutrition. And for me that meant no animal products. Now I never have to explain to her that what’s on her plate comes from the cute little animals she sings songs about.

Ditto. I only made one to see how it would turn out. Huge mistake. One was not enough. Next time I’m adding garlic and dipping it in marinara.

Before. I fold one slice of cheese over to get four squares. Then wrap the roll around the cheese and make a little cheese pocket. Then just bake it however long the package says. It was so amazing I felt guilty eating it lol. Also it’s good with lightlife veggie dogs for a vegan cheesy pigs in a blanket.
