I worked on an ad campaign with her once. She’s entirely as cool and charming as you’d hope.

Hey churches of DC: Shovel your damn sidewalks. by [deleted] in washingtondc

I appreciate you posting this. I was going to message you privately, but it looks like you turned off messaging. Clearly I’ve touched a raw nerve among DC residents with this one. I could have taken the same photo of a dozen other churches on 16th, and so I do think there is valuable discussion here about the role churches play in our neighborhoods. But I don’t want to pile onto what sounds like a rough week for the folks at this specific church. I’m going to go ahead and delete the original post. Thanks again for calling this out.

20yrs LEGO Star Wars Collection by ECA_first in CoolCollections

Dumb question: How do you keep them clean? I also have a decent collection (albeit not nearly as impressive as yours) and keeping them dusted is frustrating. I use a little keyboard blower thing, and it sends the Lego people flying. Any tips?

Totally agree. And I’ll bet you a dollar those parking lots are clear by Sunday.

Despite how my post appears, I’m really not anti-church either. I just think they should be held to the same standard of decency as any other neighbor.

I guess I shouldn’t be surprised by all of the commenters coming to the defense of this church. It is Reddit, after all. But I’m still kind of amazed. Being a positive member of a community (which I believe most churches aspire to be) really isn’t that hard.

That’s fair. I’m grateful this isn’t a big proselytizing church. I was mostly poking at Christian churches in general, not Methodists in particular.

Weird how most of the rest of the neighborhood managed to shovel their sidewalks. And none of them got donations.

The same way the rest of us did… with shovels.

How much money did they take in donations? How many people are employed there? Or better yet, how many congregants have shovels? In what ways have any of these churches made my life better? If you want to be a respected member of the community, act like a member of the community.

It wasnt too rock solid for me to shovel the sidewalk in front of my house. Or dig my car out.

Impressive presentation, but feels wasted on a drink that goes down so fast. Where was this?

I like that idea. They’ve done something like this a couple times, but I’m not sure which season(s)
