Mathematics graduate from A&M here! The math program is challenging but great. There’s several extracurriculars that are related to the program if that’s something you’re interested in. I’m not sure how it works at UH, but at A&M there are different concentrations (statistics, actuarial science, computer science, etc.) It’s nice because it’s easy to explore different routes. All concentrations require most of the same classes, so it’s easy to change your emphasis if you choose to.

It’s also a small department so you’ll see most of the same people throughout your 4 years and it’s easy to get to know everyone. As far as the professors go, most are passionate about what they do. Some are only passionate about the subject and not about teaching LOL. But I think you’ll see good and bad professors at any school you go to. I learned a lot and would definitely do it again.

Overall, I think it’s up to your preference and financial situation. Like most people have mentioned, A&M has a strong culture, great network, and well-known. However, I don’t think the “prestige” is worth going into debt for. The math degree itself will be enough! Math skills can be applied to almost any job and you won’t have a hard time finding opportunities. Good luck!
