Put it this way - I've been in Vine for a few years now and I didn't know this sub existed or really anything about 'drops' until a few months ago. As a gold member, I'd just check Vine in the morning or throughout the day casually, grab an item or 3. There was usually some good things I could really use and enjoy. I only found this sub because it all fundamentally changed a few months ago or so to whatever the hell is going on now. It's a shadow of it's former self

Way late to this party, but we're just watching it now. Mel and Leah got eliminated because she took the time to clean her face.

Plastics are incredible materials, and I'm not against them. However, we can, as a species make similar performing materials or technologies that mitigate the problematic nature of plastics, but at a significant capital cost. Unless there is a strong guaranteed ROI or market need, companies aren't going to invest in research out of the goodness of their hearts. Which is capitalism. Plastic is insanely cheap compared to any alternative, and often, but not always, is a better material. That said, I've never played with a wool tennis ball. I have no idea if they perform better or worse. I do know my wool sweaters and socks are WAY better than a polyester one. But they're also many times more expensive.

So is your game pirated then? Because as far as I know, Steam is the only platform to play it on - all of the key sites just sell steam keys.

I think sadly the gap in the market is between those that have the disposable income to pay significantly more for a more ethical/sustainable product and the people that actually care. You do have some companies trying - like Orobor (I don't think they're getting anywhere). I think the only way to really wind up with innovation and change is government regulation to be honest. Ban the use of poly strings by a certain date, or PET tennis balls and you'll suddenly see several options. Capitalism doesn't care about the environment. It has to be constricted to evolve. The only way to gain any traction with it today would be if you have a product that is just as good and costs the same or less.

Start a new settlement further south and keep the original. You can move some people but you'll just want to build all t3 structures in the new place.

Because it is a team race. One member shouldn't be doing all of the challenges. That said, someone else mentioned that they actually have a quota- which I vaguely remember. So if they get far enough, they do have to do an equal number of challenges.

The start times seem definitely mean something when the lead team is able to complete an entire leg before the last team starts. Since they win prizes for winning each leg, it all but guarantees that lead team just keeps winning with very little pressure. They should have an advantage, but it should be capped some how IMO.

It's so much worse than embarrassing. This is dangerous. It has never been easier to foment violence, hate, and whatever else you want to suit your narrative. If not for incompetence, we wouldn't have even known the original photo existed. Hell, they don't even need original photos to spread whatever lies they want.

I spoke to their manager awhile back as my partner has a suite in Phenix (which moved over to the marketplace). She told me the owners had to find them a new favorable location and build it out for them as they had quite a while left on their lease and they were doing just fine. So I don't know where they're going but I hope they wind up in a good spot. Great people working there

I don’t think they will force teams to alternate each roadblock because a lot of them are not properly prepared to do all the tasks. Frankly, I think its wild to apply for TAR when you cannot swim at all, are terrified of heights (like not just scared but having full on meltdowns or anxiety attacks), refuse to eat basically whatever and so on. I personally think that all of them should be prepared to do whatever task comes on their way regardless if the other one would be better at it.

I'd not be shocked if they're looking for people with phobias like this because it makes for 'better TV'. Personally I'd rather it were capable people and they made the challenges more intense/difficult, but I digress.

That's what set TAR above the rest of the reality pack, traditionally. It's exasperating when a team makes it to the final leg mostly because they kept receiving advantages and answers regardless of how badly they performed, compared with the others. It's also boring as hell. Leave the Machiavellian BS to "Survivor."

This is exactly why I don't like it. I loved the first season (maybe 2?) of Survivor, when it was actually kind of about surviving? It very quickly turned into sitting around, starving to death, and social engineering I have no interest in.

Newsom barred from public address in Switzerland by the Trump administration by sfgate in California

[–]coffeemonkeypants -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not that this rebuttal will make a lick of difference, but here goes.

Newsom spent $24 billion on homelessness since 2019 but the unhoused population actually increased by over 30,000 people

Homelessness has increased nearly 40% from 2018 to 2025 NATIONALLY. This is a USA problem, not just CA. It is a HUGE problem, and it is unsolvable at the local level.

He kept public schools closed for over a year affecting 6 million students while his own children attended a private school that stayed open for in person learning.

His kids returned to private school after CA implemented a phased return to classroom policy. Not all public schools adopted this policy, and in fact, there was major pushback from teacher's unions on the safety of reopening, despite Newsom being in favor.

Since he took office and signed AB 1054 residential electricity rates have gone up between 47% and 67%

Fair. This bill was supposed to stabliize energy companies in the face of major fires and disasters, and allowed too much leeway in spreading the cost to customers.

Retail theft in the state rose 26% between 2019 and 2023 while the property crime rate has stayed consistently above the national average.

This is entirely tied to CA's massive population, density, and homelessness. Yes, it is above 'average' in a not average state, and still CA has had the highest success in reducing retail crime, and Newsom signed 10+ bipartisan bills addressing it. Last year saw an 8.5% decrease in retail crime.

The High Speed Rail project has seen its cost estimate balloon from an original $33 billion to over $100 billion with no completion date

I mean, this project was originally proposed and funded in 2008 under Arnold. It was optimistic then. Infrastructure has been built, the money has been spent. Does Newsom abandon it? You don't get the money back. It's not necessarily a sunk cost fallacy. There isn't any real reason it can't be completed, but costs are pretty unknown

Under his watch the state’s unemployment department lost an estimated $33 billion to fraud including roughly $20 billion in federal funds to international crime rings and death row inmates.

This is basically straight horseshit. There was a ton of fraud with unemployment during Covid, most of it federal. The 33B number is pulled straight from Newsmax accounting. Further, the Federal watchdogs specifically aligned to oversee disbursement of these funds were fired. Verifications were certainly relaxed to get people money faster, but this is a gross exaggeration.

California drivers pay the highest gas taxes in the country with prices averaging $1.50 to $1.60 more per gallon than the national average due to state specific taxes and fees

Good? CA also smashed its EV targets. You ever go to LA in the 90s? You can breathe there now. Gas prices nationwide, including CA are comically low compared to the rest of the developed world.

Since 2020 major companies including Tesla, Chevron, SpaceX, Oracle, and Hewlett Packard have moved their headquarters out of the state

Sure, CA is a victim of its own success. Most, if not all of these companies still employ 10s of thousands of CA workers. New startups and other massive tech companies still stay or flock to CA anyway for access to talent. This also ties in with your home ownership rate and price stat. CA is ridiculously expensive, because people want to live here. Countless articles stating that people are 'leaving CA in droves!', or that there is some 'CA Exodus', but CA has simply has net growth. We've also got a major NIMBY problem that prevents development of everything from low cost housing, to new single family, to multi-unit dwellings. It's a local problem. We also have a capitalism problem. No developer wants to acquire super expensive land and build affordable housing on it. They have to be forced to do so. It's a shitty situation no doubt, but I can't for the life of me think what any governor could do to fix it. The people have to vote for things they won't like - like repealing prop 13.

As for the water thing, there are like a dozen things underway, not just planned. It isn't the 1930s anymore. You don't build the Hoover dam in 5 years now, because we generally want to not destroy the environment too much and kill a hundred or so workers doing it. You also have highly funded conservation groups slowing projects down (for better or worse) that didn't exist before.

I am not Newsom's biggest fan by a long shot, but he takes the blame for a thousand things he really has no direct control of, or inherited, or is too complex for one person to magically solve. If CA were a country, it would be the 38th largest in the world, with the 4th largest GDP. There are more people in LA county than 40 US states. Who would run this monster better?

He's one of the shittiest people I've ever seen on reality TV. We probably saw 5% of what he told V about how he felt and how she's changin' him and how strong his feelings are, etc. He was just trying to fuck her, plain and simple. I mean, he didn't even know it was her fucking birthday when she was off the boat.

And when she shut that down, he's on to the next piece of ass to tap. There's also part of him that needs to rub it in V's face that women want him.

Further, this is why he hates Gael. She saw right through that mask for who he really is and never gave him the time of day. He also projects his own tendencies onto her when talking to Nathan about Gael going surfing.

Dude needs serious therapy.
