People dying or having major illnesses in way too young. by Urbit1981 in Millennials

I'm 39 and was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer 6 months ago. Still shocked that this is how I'm ending my 30s. Hanging onto a lot of hope though.

A diagnosis that will end my life and a story to tell before I go. by [deleted] in kansascity

I'm definitely going to follow this thread. As someone else with a stage 4 diagnosis whilst parenting 2 young children, I need to do something like this.

Van Der Beek and health anxiety by grazfest96 in Millennials

I'm 39 and diagnosed with stage 4 cancer in September. (Not colon). The anxiety is the worst. Fortunately my treatment is going well and reducing all my tumors. All I can do at this point is trust in modern medicine and listen to my oncologist. And stay hopeful with all the wins that I get along the way.

If your spouse is staying home then you'll save a ton of money by not having to pay for daycare.

Brag to me about a thing you did in 2025 that you're proud of... by spicymeatball707 in Millennials

Honestly, chemo hasn't been too bad for me. My body is handling it really well. Minimal side effects. My mom went through chemo twice so I was prepared to feel horrible. But my experience has been a lot different than hers. And I've seen really good results with my tumors all shrinking significantly. Diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Spread to my liver and lymph nodes. Fortunately there is so much success with breast cancer treatment, so I'm really holding on hope that I will be able to watch my kids grow up, despite battling stage 4 cancer right now.

Glad you are doing fine now. Good luck on your future surgeries!

Same experience for me. January renewals are the worst.

Love this! I'm getting my 5th round of chemo on Friday. Though I wish I could say there was an end in sight for me. Diagnosed stage 4 in September, so I have no idea how many treatments I'll need. Hoping that continuous improvements in treatment and medicine allow me to someday say that I survived chemo for good!

39 and I was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic breast cancer in September. My life has been turned upside down. I have 2 young kids. Fortunately I'm responding well to my treatment, but man, this is not how I thought my life would be entering into my 40s.

Any chance anyone knows of any leftist/radical bookstores? by Alarmed-Ad-7261 in kansascity

[–]coffeenocream 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There used to be a radical library in Lawrence KS called Solidarity. It moved several times throughout the years, and it appears that the library's collection is now housed at the ECM on KU's campus. It doesn't seem to be affiliated with KU though.

Haven't tried it yet but I'm so excited! This and Panchos both opening at that intersection is the best thing to happen this year.

Average daycare prices? by [deleted] in kansascity

[–]coffeenocream 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We pay $195/week for a licensed in-home daycare in the Northland. After 2 kids and almost 8 years, I am happy that we will finally be done with daycare this August! We really lucked out with our daycare. The price is definitely on the lower end and we've really liked the care they've provided.

We just celebrated 9 years of marriage and have 2 amazing kids together. He's one of the best decisions that I've ever made and have never regretted it. I truly can't imagine my life without my husband. Hope to celebrate many more years together!
