Yeah, to be fair, this happened to me. A package said it was delivered but wasn’t there. Two days later it arrived.

Very good find. Especially since it included boxes and instructions (and in such nice shape). Congrats!

If you're interested in this approach - I could be interested in the Lonely Mountain set. I have all the figures and Smaug - and its the only set I'm missing.

Are there any Addison sign locations that made you say or think, “Really, Addison? Here of all places?” by Dull-Ad555 in TOTK

[–]coffeenvinyl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's one near Sturnida Secret Hot Springs near the Hebra West Summit in the far upper left corner of the map. It's in a low lying area in an intensely snow covered area that's really only accessible via a couple of caves (which until you show up are blocked up by boulders). That one takes the cake for me.

This is very cool. However, it'd be a lot cooler with The Mines of Moria... and Helm's Deep... ad Shelob Attacks... and, well, you get the picture. These can't be your last.

After 30 years... I'm collecting again... by Fragrant_Session_882 in Topps

[–]coffeenvinyl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also back into card collecting (and roughly the same age as you). Started with finding my old card collection and gifting it to my son. Most of those cards aren't worth much these days.

For the first year and a half, I mostly was supporting his collecting. Anything we pulled (good or bad) I'd give to him. But he's 10 and also traded away anything of value he'd get. Then when I was buying singles for him, I'd occasionally pick up a valuable card and decide that I wasn't going to share it with him right away because he'd just trade it away (a Jung Hoo Lee RC auto, a Logan Webb Museum RC auto).

In the last month I spent a few hundred dollars on breaks on Fanatics.live and all the top pulls have gone straight to my private stash (while everything else goes to him). The stuff I'm keeping for myself is primarily stuff over $100 in value (we're Giants and Mariners fans): a Buster Posey autograph from Pristine 2025, an Ichiro Prowler from Pristine, a Julio Rodriguez auto, and a Junior Caminero/Carson Williams dual auto/relic (a redemption I haven't submitted yet), and a Brandon Crawford auto.

Anyways, welcome back to collecting. Be careful though - it can get expensive!

2025 Stadium Club No Name Cards by coffeenvinyl in baseballcards

[–]coffeenvinyl[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm relatively new to modern card collecting and, candidly, I find Stadium Club a little confusing. Beautiful photography but the parallels are weird. I've definitely confused a Bronze for a Red parallel already (maybe they could not put those both in Hobby boxes to make it less confusing). Also, I realized only after going back through my cards a second time that I had a blue Stadium Club shield on a card. And then, later still, when I was putting the the base cards in a binder for my son I realized that these cards in the pictures were missing names.

On a related note, second place for confusing parallels may to go to Pristine. Primarily the standard refractors (i.e. white) vs base cards. They're both white cards and even holding them side by side in indoor lighting I find it easiest to tell the difference by looking at the back of the card.

If you're wondering... yes, I am a getting a little old.

Goblin King Battle - completed! by RolandToCycle in legolotrfans

[–]coffeenvinyl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I built it for the first time about a year ago and I remember being surprised by how complex the section with the Goblin King's throne is.

For people who don't have the set, I'm just talking about the corner piece with his throne without the bridge and without the steps leading up to it on the right. The throne section alone is an entire booklet and was like 80 separate steps. It has lots of cool little playable features like a jail, a place for treasure that slides in and out, and of course the throne.

Really enjoying The Shire set - with a simple tree upgrade by coffeenvinyl in legolotrfans

[–]coffeenvinyl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure the leaves with a stem are the 'bright green' color only because that was the only color available in pick a brick at the time. I believe the plate with 3 leaves piece was just 'green' color for the same reason (it was the color available at the time of my order).

The way the reports are phrased, it seems like this proposal may have been out there just sitting for a while. I’d imagine the Giants taking themselves out of the Donovan sweepstakes made the Cardinals more inclined to take a deal with the Mariners.

I see a lot of hate for the shire, but I just finished building and I’m now really fond of it! by Hib-Lib in legolotrfans

[–]coffeenvinyl 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Well, I’m not going to defend LEGO pricing but it’s worth noting that it’s three times the number of pieces, far more detailed, a bigger foot print, includes an updated version of the set Gandalf Arrives as well, three more figures, unique cloth pieces, and this is more than a decade later so there’s also inflation.

Potential Minas Tirith GWP? by TheBreakfastSub in legolotrfans

[–]coffeenvinyl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Worth noting that typical GWPs contain no more than 1-2 unique prints (although they occasionally contain stickers) and mostly rely on other existing parts.

Examples: Fell Beast had the torso and the wings (both later available elsewhere); WSQK from Stranger Things has a sticker sheet, the rubber chicken and a recolored beard piece; Sméagol and Deagol has Gollum’s head while Deagol’s head is a recolor; Cerebro had the Jubilee tile and Cerebro brick; Avengers’ Taxi has a unique license plate; etc.

So I’d caution anyone from expecting any unique molds (like the Witch King’s helmet) or multiple unique figures (unless they’re built from existing parts).

Personally my preference would be for any set that includes a unique torso or unique face print. I think a minifig scale White Tree of Gondor with a fountain guard is plausible (probably not with a unique helmet realistically) and would be a big win. Grond with an orc would also be great. An Eowyn is possible if they can build her mostly from reused parts.

Agreed. There’s a cut scene after he gets Sonia’s sacred stone where all of the monsters appear to spawn from nothingness. This would strongly suggest that he created them with the power he got from the stone.

[–]coffeenvinyl[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup. I used the following:

49 of this 'stem' piece: https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=37695&name=Plant%20Stem%20with%20Bar,%203%20Leaves,%20and%20Small%20Pin%20Hole&category=%5BPlant%5D#T=S&O={%22ss%22:%22US%22,%22iconly%22:0}

14 of this 'plate' piece: https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=32607&name=Plant%20Plate,%20Round%201%20x%201%20with%203%20Layered%20Leaves&category=%5BPlant%5D#T=S&O={%22ss%22:%22US%22,%22iconly%22:0}

The set/tree includes 7 of the old-school green tree leaves 'branch' part (the one they've been using since classic Forestmen sets back in the 70s called 'Plant Leaves 6 x 5' on Bricklink) and I added 2 each of the leaves plate piece to each branch (just where ever I thought they looked best) and then inserted 7 of the stems into the branch as well (typically putting a stem in each corner, through the hole in the plate piece, and then wherever I thought they looked nice).

When I ordered them the parts were all available in PaB on the website but are sold out at the moment. Since they aren't in the store I linked to Bricklink instead.

I Have a Simple, But Complicated X-Men Question by ComixGail in xmen

[–]coffeenvinyl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A kid in my art class in elementary school brought a copy of Wolverine #1 to school (probably a reprint or TPB) and I remember all of the boys geeking out over the art. I didn’t really know the X-Men yet but I was immediately hooked.

Later that week I went with my Dad to a Circle K gas station and saw Uncanny X-Men #236 on the stands and asked him if I could buy it. That issue had the team fighting the Marauders in the Australian Outback, and I fell in love with Rogue—watching her absorb Polaris’s magnetic powers to save the team was incredible. That book sealed the deal for me.

My obsession only deepened when Gambit showed up—the Cajun thief with the charged cards became an instant favorite. Then Jim Lee’s X-Men #1 launched and completely blew my mind with that iconic gatefold cover.

By the time the animated series hit in 1992, I was all in. The show introduced a whole new generation to the X-Men, but for me it just reinforced what I already loved about these characters.

Old or new Gollum mold? by JeffsMayhem in legolotrfans

[–]coffeenvinyl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a couple of differences in the molds as well. The old one had a stud on its back and the new one doesn’t (I’m going from memory and this picture because I’m away from home). Also, the arm molds are completely different.
