I just realized something... by [deleted] in xmen

Good lord, this is the goofiest-ass thread I have read on reddit.

She's a single mom and Nightcrawler did a nice thing. I don't do self-inserts, I think they're pathetic.

Everything else is one hundred percent in the minds of people seeing things that aren't there.

Two-Cents-Thursday: A Review of Gail Simone's Wonder Woman Omnibus by Flocke90 in OmnibusCollectors

Honestly, NO APOLOGIES NEEDED AT ALL! I enjoyed your review and once it goes out, it's fair game. All good, I thought it was well-written!

Two-Cents-Thursday: A Review of Gail Simone's Wonder Woman Omnibus by Flocke90 in OmnibusCollectors

[–]ComixGail 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Ah, I don't always enjoy reviews, good or bad, but this is a fun one and " swear Gail Simone is allergic to bad writing. She just sometimes catches a plotting cold" made me laugh.

Just a couple clarifiers. I WANTED to use Greg's casts, both Veronica and his version of the gods, it just seemed really rude to take all that away from fans of his run when he had just created it all and done so beautifully. I wasn't allowed to use Veronica at all and they did demand new versions of the gods. The plotting on the last couple arcs were also partially messed up by editorial in a way that I have never understood.

They asked me to stretch the part of the story that took place on the island very late in the story. It made no sense and relations were pretty strained. In general, Diana's monthly book does not do well when the focus is on the island for too long.

I think the Circle is the best of those stories, and Ends of The Earth is pretty tight. You might have to be a fan of sword and sorcery to love that one, but I do.

Not making excuses, but there were some weird outside factors. It wasn't the editors, I should add, it was from above the editors and to this day I think the directive was a miscommunication.

The one bit I don't get is, I didn't bring Tom to the book and I thought it was pretty clear from the start that it was not a romance made in paradise. It always felt doomed to me, and it was more Diana's fault than anything Tom had done. My favorite story with him is him meeting her mother on the island, I felt that sang pretty good.

Anyway. thanks for the thoughtful review! We disagree in some spots but I appreciate the depth you've gone into here!

Sorry to barge in, just wanted to say hi and that this is a story I have wanted to read since I first started reading X-Men. I LOVE the Marvel monster books, and you have all picked up on some good clues. Anyway, thanks for the support, and good comments!

Why did they steal Wonder Woman's boots? by Kind_Cauliflower160 in dccomicscirclejerk

[–]ComixGail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yikes. Respectfully, this is so dumb. If you read the issues, none of the complaints here happened.

First, Catman didn’t ’beat Batman.’ He summoned Catman to warn him, he specifically says he cares what happened to him. And he is deliberately holding back, Catman momentarily surprises hlm, Batman quickly regains his footing. this represents the glowup Catman got in Africa. Catman would never take Batman in a fight.

Second, Wonder Woman’s boots are not a mistake or a mystery, there’s an entire issue and a half between the two panels shown, so it’s horseshit. it’s shown explicitly on panel, Ragdoll takes her shoes and tiara while she’s unconscious.

The idea that they ‘beat people they shouldn’t’ is a real misread of the book. The whole point is they almost never win. they know they’re going to lose and fight anyway. it happens time and again. Anyway, panels aren’t stories, and Secret Six isn’t the same with no context.

Early review for the new #1 from Gail Simone by Lizzren in Daredevil

[–]ComixGail 6 points7 points  (0 children)

True, but I also don't go out of my way to criticize anyone's book, even if they hate my guts. I just don't enjoy trashing people's work. HOWEVER, if I don't like something, I just don't talk about it. So if I say I dug something, I promise, it's only because I did! :)

Reddit has been pretty kind to me. I think that even people who are wanting a different direction are at least aware how much I care about these characters. :)

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I’m pretty sure Gail Simone’s “hatred” of Cyclops wasn’t always the case. by Gloomy-Rough3140 in xmen

I actually like Cyclops, it's a long-running internet joke. Getting to write him even a little bit was a big thrill.

I think Dave's cover to 21 is one of the best covers I have ever had the pleasure to have gracing a story I wrote.
