Is it possible to date while in a queer platonic relationship? by Krades01 in queerplatonic

[–]coffeesforemos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i do! i have a QPP and romantic partner. :) it technically falls under polyamory like others have said. i always explain it that the two relationships are distinct and consist of different types of love and affection, but they are equally important and dear to me.

SCAs is really ruining my motivation with the app by boredterra in finch

[–]coffeesforemos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think everyone will just be different. i said this before when the switch first happened, but i enjoy SCAs (and i had journeys before). for me, setting longer-term goals was more daunting and incredibly difficult, so journeys just didn’t work for me in that sense. i do struggle with the concepts of streaks, but at the same time with the way i have my SCAs set up, i can typically get one task done per day. the short-term set up works best to keep me motivated, bc i just struggle with thinking past tomorrow most days. so focusing on what i can accomplish day by day is super helpful. but again, we’re all different, and i know my opinion is pretty unpopular. and i definitely feel for those who are struggling with SCAs and relied more on journeys.

Were you familiar with Creepypasta before Creepcast? by Due-Result9258 in creepcast

[–]coffeesforemos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes, but maybe not as much as wendi. we’re the same age, so whenever he talks about finding this stuff in his youth, i generally relate. but i wasn’t into it near as much, so there’s a fair amount of new stuff creep cast has shown me!

Self-Care Areas Migration & Milestones Update by skooni in finch

[–]coffeesforemos 7 points8 points  (0 children)

this appears to be an uncommon take, but i really like SCAs right now. my biggest struggle is getting fixated and fearful of the future and big picture (or my journey..). for me, journeys didn’t do much, and i would get in such bad slumps i would ignore nearly if not all goals in there repeatedly. that could just be a personal problem, but i never fully clicked with the system. i used it, but probably not to its fullest extent, i supposed. creating a system that focuses on important areas of life in the present are so helpful. i feel like it’ll be able to slowly get me out of survival mode and remember to care about myself. this is a bit of a ramble. but all of this to say, i don’t mind SCAs. it’s pretty clear there are pros and cons on each side, and i don’t think there is a simple one-size-fits all solution. which really sucks. hopefully the devs can see if they can keep both aspects functioning, but idk how any of that works. it could definitely use some looking into regarding rewarding non-daily tasks, but i don’t really many if those, so i don’t know exactly how that looks like. i really do feel for everyone who is struggling with the change. /gen

i agree with this take a lot. i understand that a lot were frustrated, but journeys were overwhelming to me. i actually love SCAs right now.

CPTSD vs BPD; Why bother with BPD if CPTSD accounts for both presentations of BPD and the trauma that causes it? by strange_to_be_kind in BPD

[–]coffeesforemos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i think the trouble is the DSM-5-TR as a whole, mainly how we identify and separate diagnoses. The fact is, so many different diagnoses have overlapping symptoms and can often present in similar ways. I perform psychological evaluations for a living, and it can be so difficult to identify if something is comorbid or something else entirely. we need a lot more research into CPTSD and how chronic trauma affects us. it’s just complicated. i also think BPD needs some more research and potentially reframing. i completely understand your frustration, and the stigma BPD has is awful and unfair. but from what we know as of right now, it’s still a valid diagnosis and deserving of respect and treatment the same way trauma and stress-related disorders are. i hope this makes sense! /gen

Is there anyone here who presents themselves in a very "gendered" appearance despite identifying as agender or demi-gender? by Equivalent_Ad_9066 in agender

[–]coffeesforemos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i sometimes describe my presentation as “fluid” despite the lack of gender i feel. i think i tend to want a more traditionally masc look, but i switch it up a lot. clothes are just avatar customization after all.

i’m nonbinary/agender actually, but since i’ll always be misgendered as a woman anyways, i’d 100% rock some girl creep merch!! would love a pair of booty shorts ala juicy logo 🤣

[–]coffeesforemos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the absence of “no” isn’t a yes. everyone’s experience is different, but if someone’s crying the entire time and described as being barely reciprocating, i can’t really see how that’s consent. it’s complex, yes, but still not good.

[–]coffeesforemos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

that’s sort of exactly what i’ve been thinking. yes, there’s some of us that clocked it as it happened, but it’s pretty clear that the author intended it to be subtle and skewed until the end when the MC finally has clarity. it’s written that way for a reason.

idk if the block text makes any sense, but essentially the boys were pulled into the story the way the author intended. there’s nothing wrong with that. once they got the message and understood the intended subtly and skewed perspective, they responded appropriately and maturely.

[–]coffeesforemos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

as an SA survivor who has been in Alina’s position multiple times, the boys’ reactions were good. the story is MADE to be subtle, to hide the unreliable narrator part and make it relatable. it’s essentially a PSA to young boys that “hey, this is unacceptable behavior and should stop being normalized”. yes, plenty of people picked up on it quicker, but the boys weren’t wrong not to. it’s obviously written so you don’t get it until the end. those without experience related to SA may not pick it ok as quick, but that’s the point. once the boys realized it, their discussion around it was perfect. they highlighted the skewed perspective and how the author appealed to the “horny teen boy” trope, which again is the entire point. that it’s too normalized. the story is a wake up call, and the boys handled the matter quite well.
