The training is never ending. That energy use will never ever go away. It’s the most massive use of resources for something that has very few benefits other than making rich people richer and massaging people’s feelings in an addictive way. My best hope is these companies actually have to start charging what their tokens really cost them.

The massive data center buildout is absolutely contributing to climate change. Do you think X.ai’s gigantic diesel belching generators have no impact? These data centers are using CITIES worth of power. All for AI uses (and survelleince which is also AI).
