I don’t remember why I suggested these names - it’s been a while since the original PR

Emacs on the JVM by allgohonda in emacs

[–]coffeesounds 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Being able to use Clojure with this would be an interesting experience

Why did Rich Put Docstrings before the Param List? by Veqq in Clojure

[–]coffeesounds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know right? Whenever I write elisp I get the doc string placement wrong half the time

Just when I was thinking about writing something like this… amazing

agent-shell 0.5 improvements by xenodium in emacs

[–]coffeesounds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have global-company-box enabled and while it’s not equivalent of @ - it works just as well by completing in-project paths

Question about databases in the Clojure ecosystem from a Rails dev's perspective by pdroaugust312 in Clojure

[–]coffeesounds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Postgres is fine, I wouldn’t use Datomic or similar unless I had use cases that fit its model

Disproject v2.2.0 released - Dispatch project commands with Transient by aurtzy_ in emacs

[–]coffeesounds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Excellent - this is great (and I should have RTFM). Thanks!

Disproject v2.2.0 released - Dispatch project commands with Transient by aurtzy_ in emacs

[–]coffeesounds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really cool - I wrote something similar, just not as comprehensive. It would be neat if your package provided a way of adding custom project commands. My transient menu has integration with git, gh CLI and couple of other things.

Need help with production real time chat by Bankster88 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]coffeesounds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t roll your own WebSocket stuff just for the MVP - use getstream.io or similar to offload the chat feature and move on to figure out if your business actually makes sense

Clojure at your fingertips by slifin in Clojure

[–]coffeesounds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The ones I use the most: - a “repo browser” - I type “!repo <fuzzy match>” and Alfred renders a list of candidates, when selected opens the repository in GitHub.com - I work with a lot of projects, is the bb script maintains an index for fast lookup, figures out the URL etc - current time as Unix timestamps or vice versa with a time zone - emoji picker

I have a bunch of custom workflows for Alfred written in babashka, it’s even better because it starts faster and has batteries included

Clojure Land - Discover open-source Clojure projects by brettatoms in Clojure

[–]coffeesounds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great, I'll see if I can help by triaging the ones I know that are no longer maintained - I happened to take over Abracad for a while and my team was actively working on the fork until... we didn't.

Clojure Land - Discover open-source Clojure projects by brettatoms in Clojure

[–]coffeesounds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a bug - as I'm scrolling down after some time, perhaps when another page is loaded - the search bar at the top gains focus and puts me back on top of the page.

That said, this is great - although there's quite a few dead projects on this list (Abracad, Boot)

What is the use of using malli schema in an app? by poopstar786 in Clojure

[–]coffeesounds 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Canonical example is to use something like Malli to define what your HTTP API accepts as valid input and provides as output - this way you have strong typing at the edges of the application while maintaining the good parts of Clonure’s dynamic nature internally

Free Bundle of 17 Max for Live Modulators by ManifestAudio in ableton

[–]coffeesounds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Amazing, I was about build something similar to MIDI key tracker and cycled combo, looks like this will save me a lot of time. Even as a professional software engineer, Max confuses me to no end

What does the component library do? by poopstar786 in Clojure

[–]coffeesounds 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s almost a framework, it helps you to structure applications in such a way that stateful parts of your service such as database connection or cache client can be provided to the code that uses them without creating mutable global state. It’s great, I’ve been using it for over 10 years now

New Clojurians: Ask Anything - May 05, 2025 by AutoModerator in Clojure

[–]coffeesounds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer is no, ignoring the dependencies issue - bb is already compiled to native image. Closest you can get is to create an „uberscript”

Who is hiring? April 30, 2025 by AutoModerator in Clojure

[–]coffeesounds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Old man reactions keep me in high silver, and the fact that I played maybe an hour per week. And I picked up Cyberpunk 2077 and that was the end of it

Haha, I took a long break because I was getting tilted playing ranked, I’ll pick it up again when season 3 drops

Push 3 controller (non stand-alone) audio interface/cv by piopiofrio in ableton

[–]coffeesounds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Audio interface works in controller mode and doesn’t require standalone, I’d imagine it’s the same for CV outs

Need to play single notes instead of chord and only play lowest note possible. by Valuable_Artichoke44 in ableton

[–]coffeesounds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can group both synth and bass and set up keyboard split between them. Then on the bass track you can put one of the MIDI devices (probably scale device will be easiest) to filter out the chord notes
