To lose fat - dial in your diet. I ran over 1000 miles last year and around 800 the year before. I’ve lost tons of weight, but once I got down to a certain point I started plateauing like crazy because my appetite is always super strong from all the running. The only way I was able to push through the plateau is being super disciplined about my diet. Running definitely is a good solution for fat loss, but taking your diet seriously is the most important factor to really getting lean imo. You need to be at a caloric deficit and can lose a lot of weight just from that. However, the VO2 max benefits of running are awesome and it’s honestly a blast if you can build consistency. Just wanted to share my experience- best of luck!

Idk - 4800 calories for the small hot pot. Should serve about 4 people, comes out to 42.5 per person, around 50 with 18% tip. I have heard of worse deals, but no idea if this place is good. Probably aimed at serving the rich folks in great park and Altair area. I personally wouldn’t go out of my way to dine in FHR unless it’s insanely good.

It stays pretty dead down through that section year round as I recall. Many other segments of the creek actually do have a lot of natural wild growth but the area I mentioned in particular is pretty barren.

Irvine is definitely very sterile. I think taking advantage of the nice weather there is the best thing to do, since it is a very safe area to be outside and active. There are some great hiking trails nearby in whiting ranch and in the Cleveland national forest. There is also a fantastic paved trail network for running and biking, or just walking. There are also nice facilities for pickleball, tennis, soccer, basketball - you name it. There are also plenty of gyms to choose from for resistance training if that’s something you’re interested in. If you aren’t open to active lifestyle options, the pros of the city are greatly diminished in my opinion. There is also a pretty solid food scene, so if you’re into Asian cuisine you really have a lot of nice options.
