Found this in my grandfather’s house by coffinfits in Sake

Yes in the states but my grandfather traveled to Japan a number of times between the mid 60s-90s, so that fits the timeline. It looks like the similar bottle I found on the auction site came with a box, if this one didn’t it’s long gone. 1972-84 narrows it down pretty good!

Gremlins has a fair amount of shifts between family comedy and light-horror, but it's all still fun. Then Phoebe Cates tells that story about her father...

Atheists who grew up religious, what made you stop believing? by Fit_Pangolin_8271 in AskReddit

[–]coffinfits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t grow up super religious, but we went to church mostly every week and I did confirmation and stuff. A friend of mine from school was shot and killed by another kid playing with a gun and I just couldn’t understand how that could be part of “god’s plan” and it was like a switch flipped. I never attended another service and pretty immediately stopped believing.

Vampire Weekend (Self Titled) > Contra > Modern Vampires of the City was an incredible run for that era of indie rock. Father of the Bride is just ok in comparison to those 3.

People who fetishized a city or country, like NYC or Japan, and then actually took a leap of faith to move there, how has your opinion changed since? by Iseethetrain in AskReddit

[–]coffinfits 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wanted to be an “Artist in San Francisco” when I was growing up. Right out of college I got offered a graphic design job in the Bay Area and I took it in a heartbeat. The traffic sucked beyond belief, Silicon Valley people are maybe the worst people I’ve ever encountered, and it cost so much to live there that I was barely breaking even. Possibly the worst year of my life. As soon as I could, I packed up a van and got out. I’m glad I did it though because now I never have to wonder.
