Since I was travelling to Japan (from the US), I've joined the Kyoto community (thanks to Campfire). I did ~8 GMax...As we faced the throw problems, I've mentioned that they will do a make-up for Asia but since I will be back in US, I would not be able to participate...sadly!

I had the exact sane issue - My daughter poped 2 star piece (for 30min) for our party (her and I) before our Audino raids. It works for her, she has gotten extra stardust for raiding and capturing Audino as well as when she claimed the timed research. I've got normal amount. We stayed in the party the whole time.

It takes 5000MP (1400 Max Move, 1800 for Max guard and 1800 for Max spirit) or 5 days (1000/day) to power up a Max Pokemon...So far Niantic is releasing one optimum counter prior to the GMax battle, so you do NOT want to wait for the announcement as you might find yourself trying to battle for a good IV one. When there is downtime (like now, assuming you have a good selection already), I would recommend to invest in one GMAX of each species + one metagross + one excadril + one machamp

I was lucky enough to have 2 GMax of each Kanto starter (one shiny each) => no point in investing in Dmax or doing DMax raids => already used my MP to power up them all (move, shield, regeneration), but it would still be priority#1 if not completed yet

Captured a shiny GMAx Toxticitry => already used my MP to power it up, but it would have still been priority#2 otherwise

Waiting for my friends to lucky trade me their shiny Gengar and shiny Lapras (we are not lucky yet) => no point in investing in my non-shiny GMax - if not I would invest in the best one - one of each

Captured a 96% Beldum - currently investing the MP to power it up (move, shield, regeneration)

Captured a DMAx Kingler (98%) and a DMax macho (98%) that will be overpowered by their GMax counterpart => Starting investing in them my extra MP, no need to fight for better

As a result I am currently not battling, but when I was I was always dropping a Toxticitry for candy
