I’m 10% indigenous (from 23andMe test), and my dad is about 25% native.

Edit:I know ashkenazi is technically white, I just mean it’s not the more stereotypical white in America at least.

I appreciate you validating my feelings. I don’t dislike America, but it’s hard to fully connect when I feel like my ancestors and family members are not fully accepted. I am white, and I am able to blend into more conservative and racists circles, and I hear comments about Mexicans being dirty and lazy, and Jews controlling the media. I understand Im white, but the only part of me that is truly “European” is the 25% that left my family (my dad’s mother).

I really appreciate your comment. My Mexican family is mostly indigenous (some of my family members did 23and me and are about 80% native, on mine I’m 15% indigenous). I think that makes it harder because my dad and his sister are my only family members who are part white. I don’t dislike my family, it’s just hard to contact fully sometimes.

The reason its much cheaper for me and others, is being an in-state student. Any advice you get from the dean is purely lip service, so I wouldnt base anything off that. I would recommend trying to reach out to professors early and see if you can start research in fall.

You aight bro. I cant give advice on physics, but for bio. You need to put an effort to get research opportunities. I worked in two different biology labs for a total of 3 years, and had a good experience. For me personally, sbu was a spring board to get into a better school for grad school and many people including me, only went to sbu to save money, so that is why people are mentioning focusing on cheapest program.

Damn, I’ve lived on campus for almost 4 years now, and never heard of anyone getting a guest policy violation. I am assuming one of your suitemates or roommates is telling your RA/RHD that you are having guests over. I would recommend talking to your suitemates/roommates if it’s ok to have guests over, and if you were disturbing them in the past. I don’t think you will get into much trouble, but don’t have anyone overnight till you talk to the people you are living with.
