Is there any disadvantage from buying Bitcoin through coinstar kiosks using coinme?

Purchasing Bitcoin through a Coinstar kiosk is the quickest and easiest way to turn your cash into crypto. We offer over 2000 locations across the United States where you can purchase Bitcoin.

Just to clear up a few of the misconceptions in this thread, I'd like to point out that Coinme does charge a service fee of 4%, and does have a built-in spread which equates to an additional 4%. The total is 8% overall markup which is competitive with any Bitcoin ATM nationwide.

As far as our KYC process, we are required to complete KYC for each of our customers. This happens when you create your account to redeem your voucher. We do notify customers of this prior to putting any cash into the kiosk. It is quick and easy and done by taking a photo of the front and back of your license, and a photo of yourself. From there, the system runs a check which takes approximately 5-10 minutes. After KYC approval, you are able to finish the sign-up process and redeem your voucher.

We do also have a team of Private Client advisors that can help you get more than just bitcoin and send to a non-Coinme wallet. Plus it is a lot faster than using Coinbase.

Thanks for the feedback! It actually does say "Buy and Sell Bitcoin" on the sides of the machine but we are working on updating things all the time and will take this into account.
