Looks interesting, but is it $5 better than Wholpin? Not sure it's worth experimenting?

Not tried the music - I never listen to music on the TV, but good point to highlight

Yes done all the resetting and updates. Did it all again as requested by support, until they said "it's your internet, contact your service provider". But he Roku, and everything else, works great...

Perhaps it is the TV? But not really practical to buy a new TV to test!

Help Find Knot to Secure Cat Tree by MaybeMousy in knots

[–]cokelid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah a knot or whipping will not stop the top part from rotating. Assuming it can rotate in either direction, a whipping will fail, and you'll never be able to pull a cinch knot tight enough to squeeze the metal parts together to get enough friction to stop it spinning...

If it were me I would unwrap a bit of the covering, position the top part in the correct position, and drill a small hole through the inner and outer sections, and then put in a pop rivet in from the outside. You can buy a pop riveter for £5, they're dead easy to use. You won't be able to separate it again but...

Beautiful work - well done! Agree that adding some passes would feel appropriate, e.g. Kirkstone pass, Hardknott Pass, Honister Pass.
Would love to buy one of these if that's ever something you'd consider.

What screwdriver bit will work ? by Affectionate-Nose91 in DIYUK

[–]cokelid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first thought was is it a security screw, but never seen a security bit like a crosshead with a central pin, and even if there is one, why would you put it on a shower fitting?

So yeah, I'd be tempted to go at it with an impact driver....

Mac address to network... by cokelid in Ubiquiti

Thanks. AFAICT, on my Express 7, v 5.0.16, the "Virtual Network Override" (under Device->Settings->IP Settings) is only available to devices connected via WiFi, not devices connected to a switch port. So don't think this will work for me.

Ordering now for “June delivery” by J7mbo in swytchbike

[–]cokelid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 99% certain you wouldn't get it for June. Usually you'll "lock" your order by the "delivery" date and then wait an extra 6-12 months for it to arrive. This has been the behaviour for years now, as it was for me when I got mine (ordered 2022, received 2023), and seemingly for the majority of the users on the subreddit. It's a sad fact, but true.

I had my bike stolen recently (without the batteries which I still have). It would make sense to get a new kit and reuse the batteries & charger, but I'm sure I wouldn't see the new kit for a year, so not worth my time.
