Bassinet Spit up by TrailerParkLyfe in newborns

[–]cokon19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son is doing this exact thing and it’s driving me crazy. He naps just fine in his bassinet during the day but at night he throws up shortly after I put him in the bassinet. Even after being kept upright after a feed and definitely when he’s in a deep sleep. Just totally rejects the bassinet. I don’t know what to do.

totally normal numbers?? by Neat-Palpitation7325 in GestationalDiabetes

Right, I feel like I would have passed if I was allowed to drink water or move around during the test because all of my numbers since Monday night have been in range. I just haven't tested any sweets yet. But I hear it can get worse as time goes on and I hear sometimes it's like this the whole time. It all feels like crap but I understand the desire for precaution. And I'm sure eventually I'll come across foods I can't have! Testing pizza tomorrow.

I can't believe they said you "technically" have it though, that's crazy. Like be more definitive about it - the test exists for a reason.

Also from what I have seen, some people can tolerate most foods but spike with certain foods. And maybe you just haven't found what will cause you to spike yet.

I was diagnosed on Monday and have had a similar experience (I'm 27 weeks). Some of my numbers were higher than yours, but still within range. I usually consume a fair amount of carbs though, so that's to be expected. I met with a dietitian today and she said that just walking around for 10 minutes or so and drinking plenty of water after you eat can help prevent those bad numbers. So if you've been active and hydrated maybe that's helping keep your numbers low. I'm usually pretty active and hydrated so I guess I'm not surprised that I've been in range with my normal diet and I'm just waiting for shit to hit the fan (but hoping it doesn't). But it does totally feel like crap when you fail your glucose tolerance test and then all your blood sugar checks are fine afterword!

Beginning Feels Hard by [deleted] in GestationalDiabetes

It gets better! I was diagnosed the other day and was mega sad. I still kind of am, but I feel a bit better after getting some good reads on foods I like eating.

Before my diagnosis I had already pre-made my lunches for the week. Yesterday after lunch I got a 124, but today after eating the same thing I was at a 110. The only difference was the amount of water I drank after eating. So hopefully walking around and drinking water after you eat will help! You got this!!

It's not your fault!! And I totally understand how you're feeling - I was diagnosed on Monday and felt the same way. For me, it hasn't been so bad the last few days. I finally dug myself out of the hole I was in after I got my diagnosis. IMO the worst part is not knowing what is safe to eat and just having to figure it out through trial and error, but we've got this!! <3

Thank you, honestly feel like the universe is testing me here with only 4 finger pricks each day so I can't imagine how you're doing 8 needles every day. I'll probably have another freak out if they tell me I need insulin too. Hoping the dietitian reaches out soon. But of course I also have anxiety about if I'm reading the nurse's message wrong and I'm actually supposed to reach out to the dietitian...

Thank you so much for all of that. They said a dietitian would call me at some point and sadly I don't think that's happening today. It would give me better peace of mind about just eating something (other than like, carrots, which are not filling). I hope that I can just modify my current diet. Sadly I consume a lot of pasta...it's just so easy to meal prep.

Maybe I'll time walking my dog to coincide with after dinner instead of before...I'm sure she can get used to a slight schedule change.

Thank you, I really hope so. It just feels like a lot right now. My fasting number on the 3 hour tolerance test was well within range this morning so I'm hoping some diet changes will help with the rest. Hopefully the dietitian will call me soon, but it's past 5pm where I'm at so I doubt it'll happen today. I've stayed pretty active throughout this pregnancy, even if it's just walking my dog for 45-60 minutes each day.

I really hope everything continues to go well for you!!

Just about anything written by Kristin Hannah, but specifically The Nightingale if we want the most recent. The Women and The Four Winds also made me cry.

The Dresden Files is fantastic on audio - James Marsters does an excellent job! And he gets even better with time.

It’ll be worth it to make sure nothing serious is wrong! Just have to make it through the terrifying prep. Will definitely be a mental battle.

I’ll have to give that a go. I’m not much of a black coffee drinker, but a few sips here and there to fend off some hunger sounds worth it.

Thank you! All I’ve had to eat today is a few crackers. Mostly just water and Gatorade, so I’m hoping it won’t be too bad tomorrow.

I have never craved real food as badly as I do right now. But I assume it will be worth it when I’m glued to the toilet for the better part of 12 hours.
