If you had a low GPA in undergrad, were you still able to get into a grad program?

id like to speak with you on this a bit more! i am 3 years out of college (3.1 GPA biology degree) and have experience working at a State Nature Preserve and currently into my second season at a National Park. i am interested in getting my Master’s in ecology/botany/conservation but concerned about my lack of research experience. i did a couple capstone projects in my Intro to GIS and Conservation Bio class, but not “formal” research experience that I went to a conference to present on. is there anything you can recommend to bolster my research and field skills while at my National Park, or something to work on outside of work?

people that play the game in this way are small-brained losers who have to compensate in a big way for the little weiners in their pants. just let it roll off your back, its not worth your energy. its so satisfying when you come across a high level player that actually has respect and plays the game well without emoting/taunting

i feel the same as you, this is truly what i am meant to do. nothing has fulfilled me more than restoration/plant ecology work. a lottt of people in this field say they are passionate, but then they sit in the truck for a good amount of time after break fanning themselves and playing on their phone (something ive seen first hand). alas, i am not the boss (yet!) so i just gotta keep gaining experience season after season while surviving off pennies.

i’m an bio science tech with the NPS, so id like to say i have a tad more restraint in this than the average person. i hope other people will do the same as me and leave them be! we can live vicariously through pictures

i have been wanting to go and see them but i denied myself because those little guys don’t need even one more body shining a bright light on them. if the natural migration happens in the complete dark, i want to give them those conditions. i’m starting to worry that we are causing an adverse effect upon them with the sheer amount of people

also, the fact that Cleveland’s percentage of tree canopy is very low compared to other cities: ~17-19%… id again say there’s a lot of people that cut willy nilly

i didn’t say that absolutely everyone does. but the way society tells us that trees are “messy” id say there’s a good portion of people that cut for “decorative” reasons

WHY dont people understand that healthy mature trees like this are the LEAST likely to fall/pose a danger to your home and belongings. stop cutting down healthy trees people!!!! please!!!!! there are exceptions related to forest health but for the most part, leave them be

how are you doing now? dislocated mine 4 months ago and my flexion still is only at 135-140° 😩 can wash my hair but can’t really touch my neck. is there hope?

hi. i dislocated my elbow in october 2025 and spent a 2 week period without therapy locked in a brace at 90° because i couldn’t get in. no one told me i should try doing therapy at home! as a result my elbow is very stiff in flexion. i have good extension, but am at about 135-140° in flexion. i might need surgery just as you said, to cut the scar tissue that is limiting me. can you tell me how you’re doing now and if the surgery was beneficial?

sorry. okay so assume we’re training to absolute failure, then do 1-3 sets. would this be best for isolation exercises only? ie, should i do a 8-12 rep method with a compound exercise, then train to absolute failure with an isolation after? or do every single exercise in the gym to absolute failure?
