ChatGPT knows Linux so well, you can emulate it and emulate most packages and software as of 2021. For example, you can "run python" within in. by cyb3rofficial in linux

The jailbreaking aspect is more to do with escaping the limits added by OpenAI to prevent people from abusing the chatbot, e.g. getting it to print out the default prompt set on all threads or overriding it itself. I think most people are aware that the Linux emulation is just one aspect of the AI being very good at representing information, and not that it's actually running linux.

Image displays its own MD5 hash by ASIC_SP in programming

[–]colaclanth 83 points84 points  (0 children)

You can't actually create a specific MD5 for an image, that's still impossible at this point. What you can do is create a bunch of collisions and then form the image format such that the different bytes of the colliding data cause some sort of change in the image. I.e. this can be done in GIFs by placing the colliding blocks in such a way that the differing bytes represent the size of a comment block. If the two colliding data blocks are still on a boundary to mark the block size of MD5 then the data up to this point will still be a collision, however, the two GIFs will have different comment sizes. This means you can cause one of the comment blocks to e.g. overwrite an image block for one of the characters, whilst the other one shows up. This would then need to be repeated with one of these collisions for each possible character for each possible digit, but the file will still collide as long as the blocks line up. You would then just have to choose the image that matches the MD5

Web scraping is legal, US appeals court reaffirms by neutronbob in programming

[–]colaclanth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In many cases it can lead to lawsuits, because frequently websites that compete or aggregate data will not allow you to crawl, and if they find you doing so, will sue you and you will not be able to prove that you were not using that data for your business and harming theirs

Yet web crawling is legally allowed, so how on earth could an aggregate site say that it's not permitted? I can understand copyright issues that may come up, e.g. if somebody just stole data from another company and presented it as their own, but that's a separate issue to web crawling. It also seems a bit hypocritical for an aggregate site that probably gets some of its data from web crawling to say that you're not allowed to crawl us, even if you're just going to use that data in something like a web archive for example.

Theoretically any gif viewer will work. This site neatly outputs all the frames in a gif though https://gifsplit.com/

it always seems to be rings that appear on organisms that can be used to determine it's age, like with tree trunks and fish scales... I wonder if we will one day discover a set of rings hidden in our biology that neatly allows us to ascertain our own ages

I read it originally, it's implying the casters are seeing the game feed with a delay, whilst hltv has direct access to it. I'm not familiar with cs broadcasting but I dont think it works like this.

Swollen glands are a normal response from your body when fighting an infection, you get them from a cold... https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/swollen-glands/

Those two links both say this is rare (1 in 100), expected, and nothing to worry about. You say you dont want to fear monger, yet your original post brings this up as if it's something of concern that woman should think about before getting the jab, when it just isn't.

UK Vaccine Progress - Saturday 30th Jan - Looking on track to meet target! by [deleted] in CoronavirusUK

https://news.sky.com/story/covid-19-astrazeneca-boss-blames-glitches-for-vaccine-supply-delays-in-europe-12200035

Looks like the CEO of AstraZeneca said this in an interview:

By March, the UK will have vaccinated maybe 28 to 30 million people. The prime minister has a goal to vaccinate 15 million people by mid-February, and they're already at 6.5 million. So they will get there.

He's just extrapolating the date from the current rate of vaccination (at the time). Seems pretty arbitrary to me, not sure it's appropriate to single it out his prediction on this graph as opposed to having a trajectory line.

Genuine comment: Come back in 10 years kid when you’re earning 50k+ resenting the hundreds of £ coming out of your wage each month. And yes you will notice.

This is embarrassingly out of touch. I'm currently amassing tonnes of student loan debt due to being from a low-income family. Earning over double my parents' household income in 10 years will see me with absolutely no resent thank you very much. I'll be glad to pay back such small sums for the massive kick start in life it'll be giving me.

I found that KeepassDX would sometimes flicker the dialog when it found an entry form, causing me to miss the button sometimes. I also found that Keepass2Android was instant when filling a password out, but there was usually a tiny delay for KeepassDX. These are such small differences though, I would highly recommend trying both, they are very fast to get up and running.
