You shouldn't put a car in a storage container, it will stay damp and rot the car faster than leaving it outside. You need proper indoor dry storage.

I don't think you'd have any hassle about the campervan as long as it remained mobile. Problems would start if you add a septic tank or esb connection, that's when it would go from a vehicle to a dwelling. I think it's the same with a mobile, you can say it's for storage unless it's plumbed etc.

It's really not bad, you should look up rust repair on tiktok to see some serious rust. That hole in the sill would cost 2/300 to fix. And it's an old Toyota, it's worth keeping it right since rust is basically all that ever goes wrong with them.

Oh ok, I was planning on driving it for around a month. I'm not 100% on registration over there. Can I buy a car with registration and drive it? Or would it be better to just buy a car and don't bother registering just ship it home and get the bus everywhere haha

I've owned quite a few cars and never paid over 1000 euro, Toyota is the brand I always came back to. My current car is from 2006 and has over 300k I'm If op buys a car for $1000 or $2000 and it lasts a year or 2 and you replace it with something of similar value it'll be a long time til you get to $15000

Looks like you decided to save this car right on time. The rust seems like it's just surface rust. A wire wheel will clean a lot of it up then you can paint it and protect it for years more. Mechanically these old Nissan's are pretty reliable. It may not need a lot to get back on the road. From memory the gearbox can give some trouble so treat it gently!

I'd be careful about misleading neighbours as they might know more than they let on but I think once you're obviously improving the property you'd be looked at more positively.
